It's a bit hard to read because she's still so young and has been through such hard times. Two of her coaches have quit amidst controversy, she has struggled for years with a serious eating disorder, her family's house was destroyed in the 2010 ND flood. She has moved all over the country, living alone at age 19 in apartments in Fullerton, CA etc. IMO, her decision to abandon Auburn and turn pro is where the serious trouble started. It sounds like she has desperately needed someone to give her good advice over the past couple of years but due to a combination of inattention, too much change and bad luck, she's just been floundering.

She's a talent on the order of Beisel or Pelton. She has the basically unlimited potential. I hope she figures out the direction she wants her life to take. That may or may not include swimming.

RE: 2012 Olympics: Swimming

More Aussie Backlash

China Daily: Swimming Australia Bans Cotterell From Training Foreigners
I hope Cotterell calls their bluff. He makes most of his money training foreign swimmers anyway.

Edit: From other sources it sounds like this is not verified yet.

RE: 2012 Olympics: Swimming

www.nbcolympics.com/.../tour-the-athlete-village-with-rebecca-soni-and-ricky-berens.html

RE: 2012 Olympics: Swimming

What is a prank call?

I'm curious if hejust had a lousy start, or if his starts aren't that great (relatively). Reaction times would be nice to see, but hands entering wrong can easily rob a few tenths too.

Cullen is great, not sure he's the greatest ever.

Vlad Morozov has fast RTs
he was 0.56 in his 50 Fr in 2010 JRs when he went 22.2 LCM

Roland Schoeman gets off the blocks very fast, is a great jumper, & often leads at 15 meters.
