It was well over 100 degrees on two of the days at 2008 LCM Nats. That'd prolly keep me from entering these meets. I usually go through the order of events and check when my events are. If it looks like i'm going to have to sit there for 3-4 hours after warmup, i don't even bother entering that meet.

The length of Masters Meets is entirely dependent on the number of participants. Most big meets have a time line so you have a pretty good idea of how long they last.Unlike USAS meets, Masters meets are required to have a warmup/warmdown area available at all times. This means if my events are at the end of a session I get to sleep in(:banana:) and still get a warmup.

RE: How many events do you do at your state meet?

Someone has an idea to put the 50 & 100 events at the end of the meet to keep swimmers around. WOW, no kidding that's a long day. I'd prolly have gotten bored well before that and just went home. Swim meets keep my attention but not for 11 hours!

It seems like your state needs to impose harder cutoff times if THAT many people make it to state. An 11 hour meet is borderline rediculous IMO.
The longest USAS state prelims session i ever attended was 4 hours long in comparison.

*EDIT* thought about it more... i retract my "borderline rediculous" claim. I decided that I feel an 11 hour meet is WAY into the rediculous category.

RE: How many events do you do at your state meet?

I am asking because our state meet is running longer each year because of the amount of entries per day.
