Yes, they do, and Vaseline works great. :agree: I read that tip in "Mastering Swimming". Not only does it keep my goggles from leaking; it helps keep the thin skin around my eyes from becoming dry and irritated. I also use Vaseline under the straps on my suit where it hits my clavicle. It keeps my suit from rubbing, especially when I'm practicing a lot of turns. ...and nobody likes a a sore clavicle... ;)

Vaseline (to put around my eyes before I put my goggles on, to prevent leaking and irritation.) Vaseline? Does that really work? Do your goggles have silicone gaskets?

In my Sun City Peachtree gym bag that stays in my locker until after my swim: Towel bra & underwear Team GAJA t-shirt and shorts I wear to the pool over my Speedo Endurance suit (Debbie, you're right; it's indestructable!) Addidas sandals I wear out to the pool Lotion & face moisturizer Shampoo & conditioner Razor Deoderant Combination lock Golf cart key and house key Club pass In my Aquasphere swim bag to take into the pool area: Microfiber towel (I use picked up a pack from Target from the automotive dept. They were much less expensive than swim towels and work great!) Tyr Petit Femme goggles Vaseline (to put around my eyes before I put my goggles on, to prevent leaking and irritation.) U.S. Masters swim cap Dive Slate (I write out my workout the night before, then add my times and stroke count during my sprint work, etc.) Waterproof digital watch Pull buoy (The cheap blue and white stripe one from Swim Outlet) Aquasphere webbed gloves (I use instead of paddles; easier on my shoulders.) 2 large reusable water bottles; both are filled and kept within reach A third bottle with a serving of dry (chocolate!) protein powder. I add the water on my way to the locker room, after my swim. My favorite item :): A list of tips for each of the strokes and turns (compliments of Allen Stark, Ande, and my part-time coach- thanks, guys!) that I review before each workout. The list is written on white carboard and kept in a ziploc bag.

All the stuff posted looks like stuff that DOES belong in a swim gear bag Yeah, I think the stuff in my bag(see above) is pretty basic and nothing over the top. If I don't use a nose clip I will have a drippy nose for days.

Nothing that has no business being in a swim bag, but I certainly have no shortage of excess gear: I believe I have something like five swim caps; seven or eight suits; two water bottles; and four pairs of goggles. However, I use a single towel for an entire week, and by Saturday it's getting a little funky. Maybe I should keep an extra. Also in my swim bag, I have a pair of flip flops, a very beat up old combination lock that I will never get rid of since the combination is the only one I think I'll ever be able to remember, and a shaving kit bag with the usual stuff inside. In addition to my swim bag, I have my mesh bag that contains another pair of goggles, two sets of paddles, pull buoy, two swim caps, fins, fin socks (since zoomers tear up my feet, and I'll have none of that after spending 40 bucks on a pedi), workout cards, and another water bottle. I also lug a kickboard with me to the pool since the ones there are generally no good.

I keep all my "toys" - fins, pull buoy, cap, goggles, and shower stuff in a little box locker at the Y so my swim bag has: eyedrops - I can't believe no one else carries these! goggles I hate - just in case cap I hate - just in case comb "sexy hair" pumpkin leave-in conditioner "secret lady things" deodorant face lotion & body cream a billion hair elastics lotus garden perfume towel water bottle workout written in sharpie on a 5x8 index card y card on a key-chain clipped to the outside

I carry my pool stuff in a backpack-style TYR mummy bag I got a couple of months ago to replace my worn out Speedo bag. The outside bottle pocket holds a water bottle I got from the Arizona OW Swim Series. In the outside zipper pocket I have: - Speedo microfiber towel, that stays damp (without stinking), even in the dry heat of Arizona - Two caps (USMS and one from my last OW swim, the Catfish Crawl) - Two pair of goggles (Smoke TYR Petite Femme and Mirror Speedo Vanguishers) - Ziplock baggie with a month's worth of pool workouts on 4" x 6" cards - SportCount Finger Lap Counter/Timer - Pool-Mate watch - Finis Tempo Trainer Inside the bag I carry: - 1 Speedo Endurance suit (they're indestructible; I don't need to carry another suit) - Finis Streamline Board - Speedo deck sandals (they're great on the tile deck when I swim indoors) - Blue & white pull buoy - Green Strokemaker paddles - Finis Freestyle Snorkel - TYR Burner EBP Fins (brand new and I love them!!) - Last, but not least, the one oddity is the pair of neon yellow tennis balls (swim at least a 200 while gripping a tennis ball in each hand and you'll really feel the water when you swim without them) -- I stick them inside the foot pockets of my fins for safe-keeping after my workouts I didn't realize I carried so much stuff! One of the tri guys I swim with calls me the "gadget queen." :blush: The funny thing is, when I swam on the swim team in high school back in the '70s, the only gadget I used was a kickboard. I didn't even own a pair of goggles back then.

I don't take No Clean under wear or clean socks. (I wear clean ones to the pool) No Brush No hair gel No board Never flip flops No workout plan No swim cap No nose plugs No watch (who cares about time?) Never include paddles, fins, or a pull buoy I do take Swim goggles sorry can't tell you the brand. Towel Swim trunks sorry can't tell you the brand. When I swam in the marathon races I was glad I had regular pliers in my swim pack. When I was swam in the Atlantic City Marathon I had a fish hook go through my hand. I pulled it out with the pliers. wrote a swim faster faster tip on this at Tip 203 List of What to Pack in your Swim Bag for a Swim Meet Mine has a side pocket, a main storage area, 2 side pockets one dry one wet. I have all kinds of crap in it mostly swimming stuff, the dry pocket has the most stuff & some of it is random, some is trash & needs thrown away one of the strangest items I have in the dry pocket is a pair of needle nose plyers which I use to untie knots in my suit strings

Do you "air dry" or do you use a towel? What about clothing to wear to and from the pool. I hate sitting in a wet suit on the dry seat of the car! I carry all three of that list in my "1998 ISHoF college swim forum" bag. :) I go in wearing clothes.. sometimes a dry suit under my shorts on the way in, and commando on the way out :blush:. And no need for towels, they are provided at the Y.

In my giant black Speedo (boo!) bag: - TRESemme' shampoo and conditioner (not really helping) - 3 pairs of TYR Socket Rocket goggles with replacement silicon straps: Mirror Ice (metallized), Blue and Smoke. - 2 pairs of Speedo (boo!) nylon water polo briefs, size 32, in navy and blue - 2 pairs of Dolfin Uglies training briefs, size 32, in Loopy and an unknown pink model - comb (not really helping) - anti-perspirant (helping) - Gold Bond medicated body powder - Edge shaving gel, but no razors (WTH?) - several quart and gallon Ziploc bags - a small, rusty lock and key - a shammy that I got at a recent Nationals, unopened

- TRESemme' shampoo and conditioner (not really helping) A little off topic, but I found a brand of shampoo and conditioner that really work for my hair: Redken Hair Cleansing Cream www.redken.com/.../hair-cleansing-cream-shampoo coupled with their All Soft conditioner www.redken.com/.../all-soft-conditioner. When I swam in the marathon races I was glad I had regular pliers in my swim pack. I thought you were going to say they were for after you got out of the water when it was really, really cold. :bolt:

I love The Monon Center! They provide towels and you can use as many as you want! This helps cut back on home laundry! :angel:
