I didn&amp;#39;t ask about swimming but when you have a fusion, you need those bones to knit which should take at least 6 weeks.    
I had a nerve that was pinched and still hurt some after surgery so I didn&amp;#39;t want to aggravate it so I took it easy - no upper body workouts.  He also would not send me to PT until the 3 month visit.  In other words, take it easy - spinal surgery is a big deal!
