I&#39;ve done 5 x 400 IMs in practice (switching them up forward and reverse every other) and it was not too bad, I think we got around 50 seconds rest after each one in the sets we used to do. Hah! Since Noodlers are worms (they manage to worm their way into taking over the swim lanes- and the entire pool...), this could be the perfect Smilie for Noodlers. I actually prefer the 200 Fly LCM over 400 IM LCM and/or SCY. At Indy I learned that I can kill myself on the first lap of the 200 fly and then ask myself WHY for the next 3 laps or I can start out with an easy pace that I can maintain and only the last lap is tough. I now swim the paced 200 fly and I can actually do a 500 fly LCM with no problem. When you do enough 500 fly&#39;s in practice the 200 fly is easier.

YES you can call me CRAZY and loving it!

i&#39;d say the 400 im is tougher because it takes me a lot longer to recover afterwards. also, because of the distance, i think it requires more training to be able to do effectively.

Now see that was kind of my thoughts.

In my pre-baby days, my event order went something like :100fly, 400 free, 200 fly, 200 free, 800 free. And somewhere in there would be 200IM, but I never had much opportunity to swim it.

I would aviod back like the plague and do the occasional 100 *** for &quot;fun&quot;. I always figured I&#39;d have the endurance to finish the 400IM, especially as I was a fly swimmer, but the 100 back scared the heck out of me (still does).<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: 200 fly vs 400 IM

(Honestly, half of the reason for this post is that I wanted to use the new smiley.)
