Apparently he wasn't rested for this meet according to this article - swimnews.com/.../7802

It should be interesting to see what he does at pan pacs. twitter.com/.../17881591729

I will bet you absolutely nothing that he doesn't go faster than 21.40

Based on the way he is training, he would benefit tremendously just by resting for a day or two.

RE: Does 21.55 change anything?

I think this just goes to show that we have developed better training methods. How fast will he go shaved and tapered?

I doubt he going much faster than 21.55 (this year). We'll see. I would be surprised if he wasn't shaved and tapered for this meet.

I am glad that he has the WR in the event because he has been the best sprinter in the world for the last two years. He holds the recognized WR and he beat the previous non-suit WR in a jammer. That is the ideal situation. Right guy has the record....

RE: Does 21.55 change anything?

YouTube- Alexander Popov 50m Freestyle World Record

RE: Does 21.55 change anything?

I think it's a big deal...and we will see some amazing races even this year at the Pan Pac's and other major meets. I feel it will validate the hard work and effort these amazing swimmers put in to their sport - if nothing else in the minds of those who said it was all tech suits.

That he beat Popov (the all time god of the 50 free) with only a jammer - wow.

Correct me if I am wrong...but didn't Popov where full leg-skins when he set that record?
