I'm active duty Army and after my deployment will be looking at a new installation to PCS to. Does anyone know of any bases that have USMS workouts? I know of Fort Hood and Fort Bragg having them but not sure of any other ones. I'm stationed at Walter Reed right now and go up to Fort Meade often. I've swam there a few times but didn't notice them having a Masters team. I have Fort Lewis as my follow-on assignment but I was going to re-enlist or talk to branch downrange for a different location. I didn't realize they had those accomadations for swimming, that may influence my final decision!

RE: Masters Swimming on Army Installations

If any Air Force bases are possibilities, Wright-Patterson and Langley have USMS groups.

RE: Masters Swimming on Army Installations

I know there was a really fun masters swimming group at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii, but some military guy complained about all of the non-Army swimmers filling up the pool in the morning so that soldiers had to wait to swim while civilians swam with the masters swimmers...

RE: Masters Swimming on Army Installations

Not paticularly, but it's good to know they have one!

RE: Masters Swimming on Army Installations

Would Fort Leavenworth be on your list of possibilities? If so, I can put you in touch with some people there. They have a Masters group.

I had just gotten out of the army and was visiting some friends there.

There's also a very small group at Ft Huachuca, in Sierra Vista, AZ. Their coach used to host triathlons and I competed in one.

At Ft Lewis, WA there were 3 or 4 pools on post, one seemed to be open almost all the time (they'd rotate hours). The gym down the street from my barracks had a nice pool and diving well. Also Ft Lewis borders America Lake, where they do some lake swims. There's a very small beach along the Sound also.

RE: Masters Swimming on Army Installations

There is a Masters workout at the pool at Ft Eustis, VA.
