Well, it&#39;s nice to know my big (loud) mouth was appreciated! I&#39;m sure those around me on deck by Lane 10 were ready to whack me! I should show your post to my brother. He used to call me &quot;Motor Mouth&quot; when I was a kid. :blah: I outgrew it (talking a lot), but I make up for it now on the forums! :D

P.S. Hey Ande, I&#39;m joining the love-fest in thanking you (again!!!). I&#39;ve thanked you a bunch of times and you know I&#39;m a huge fan of yours, but I couldn&#39;t resist adding my :2cents: here. :D If I hadn&#39;t been in Alaska when this thread posted, I would have been the first to respond and agree!

Ande, sorry, again, about my loud mouth :cheerleader: cheering you on in the 200IM video I made of you at Nationals. That was hysterical. It ironically describes how I feel about running as well except I continue to make myself run so as to try and cut more fat.

Start a project to work on your breakouts.

Push off hard (most swimmers don&#39;t push off hard enough)
Streamline skinny &amp; tight (keep your head neutral, keep your head DOWN)
Ride the Glide (for a moment)

I really want to get my breakouts better and I&#39;ve been swimming without fins alot more now to get more strength, like Ande suggested.

On the 200 IM back to *** turn, Ande I saw you did a flip. Did you touch on your back or crossover and touch? I&#39;m going to try the flip in workouts, but I think my open turn is faster right now.

you&#39;re welcome.

Ande

Fully agreed! I&#39;ve read through Swim Faster Faster several times, I bought Swim Anatomy, and Mastering Swimming, and I push myself EVERY SINGLE practice because I really want to be good! (Well .... better).

So thank you Ande! Your tips and advice has pushed at least this novice in a brand new direction in life (completely new direction).

And thank you Louise for being cogent enough to realize that we should probably have this kind of thread!

I wanted to share what I know, what I&#39;ve learned &amp; gathered about swimming. As far as I&#39;m concerned I&#39;m still learning. I hope to make Swim Faster Faster a book but I didn&#39;t want to let the information just sit on my hard drive till that happened. So I put it on this message board with an index that I update.

I&#39;ve used the ideas to help myself swim faster faster. They&#39;ve allowed me to shift from being a top 10 swimmer in 2004 to breaking records in 2008, 9 &amp; 10.

I also really enjoy SFF sessions where I work one on one with a swimmer.
We talk about what they want to improve.
I&#39;ll test their ability &amp; look for instant improvement opportunities.
Let them rest a bit.
Then give them a few short instructions &amp; immediately retest.

Most importantly each swimmer swims away with a list of things to work on and a plan of attack.

The biggest problem with the SFF Tips is there are so many of them.

It can be confusing to figure out where to begin or which ones to work on first.

That&#39;s one of the reasons I created ASK ANDE, so I could field questions and individual cases.

Everyone can improve. It&#39;s most fun when it happens INSTANTLY!
Technique, Mental Techniques like getting in Ideal Performance State (IPS) or getting psyched, equipment, &amp; correct splitting are often ways to instantly improve.

Some take a few weeks.
Like Tapering, weight loss, &amp; performance projects.

Some take months seasons &amp; years.

Again you are welcome. I hope they help you swim faster faster and please let me know when they do

Take care,

Ande

Is there one? If so I couldn&#39;t find it, but want to say thanks to Ande for the swim faster faster tips and the ask Ande advice, and to the rest of you for being here with lots of interesting tips and articles to read, and my parents, my sister and her dog.....sorry I digress....

But seriously, being able to read and post and get some good advice has really motivated me to get back in the pool this spring/summer and to enter the summer league meets with my daughter.

We had a great morning on Saturday, she won her backstroke, made the A qualifying time in her breaststroke, while I came in second - less than 1sec behind a 19yr old on my 100 free and did a very respectable 32.46 on 50fly.

The ab work, SDK work and lots of kicking has really helped and I&#39;ve only been at it a few weeks.

So thanks guys :applaud::applaud::applaud:<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: Thank Ande Thread?

YES, thanx ANDE for all the info we can get from you ! :applaud::applaud:<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: Thank Ande Thread?

I really want to get my breakouts better and I&#39;ve been swimming without fins alot more now to get more strength, like Ande suggested.
