It truly is a beautiful thing to watch. Graceful and powerful. I'm glad they included some top down shots, helps to see their arm and hand positions on entry.

RE: Crashing vs. Landing in fly

Question for all the flyers. I get the crashing part really well. I can't figure out how to "land" on the fly entry. While the video is really informative, they didn't discuss much how to focus on landing on entry.

Any thoughts on how to "land" vs "crash" on entry?

Think about entering the water with soft hands. That will help you to land vs. crash.

RE: Crashing vs. Landing in fly

Also maybe make sure you are not diving your hands down. They should enter like freestyle, nice and shallow and about shoulder width and hardly any splash. Then gently slide them out to good place for catch, let 'em sink down to good water for catch, and pull away.

But this is what I have been told. And yes, that second kick to catapult your body over the water seems to help. And I think I've been told to have already breathed and put my face back in the water before I recover my arm-o-las. So your head is already in the water as those arms fly over, gently, to softly enter like freestyle.

Someone said to imagine the pool asking "Why do you hate me so much? Why do keep slapping me around?"

Whoa, too much diet Coke! What else shall I comment on tonight? I am really bad at fly! But I sure do try to do soft entry.

Geez. Really must :bed:

Buen suerte.

RE: Crashing vs. Landing in fly

crocker didn't crash, he landed

The emphasis immediately prior to entry is to float soft hands forward. Of course, it helps to have a good second kick. There were plenty of people doing it extremely well in Atlanta.
