Wow...is North Carolina STILL upset that they didn't get picked to host the capital of the Confederacy? We'll just have to settle with being the swim capital of the South. Bring it, Hambone!

Grew up mostly in the San Gabriel Valley...Glendora, Covina and San Dimas. Lived in Newport Beach...Alta Loma...all over SoCal... Used to surf in Newport and Huntington...sometimes as far south as San Clemente and San Onofre (Trail 2 was awesome). Retired Army...stayed right here when I did...working with the Air Force here on a system called Joint STARS...right now the weather is great...dreading the humid months to come!!! Ooops! I'm a newbie to Georgia and thought Warner Robbins was NORTH of Atlanta. Time to dig out my state map and study up on the local geography! I'm from SoCal, too! Born and raised in Long Beach, then moved to San Diego to attend SDSU, in 1980. I lived there for 24 years. I see you surf... :cool: Where in California did you surf? I used to kayak surf off the Navy Seal base in Coronado.:cool::bliss: How did you end up in Warner Robbins???

Highlight them in your heat sheet and then stalk them :) It'll give you something to do between your events. Well, at least Tracy and I have photos posted that would make us easy to recognize! :applaud: And, it will be hard to miss me in my funky purple and white Speedo TRAINING suit!:D No tech suit for me; I'm sitting near the bottom in all of my events, so I figure I have some goals to achieve before I treat myself to a competition suit!:agree: OK, EVERYBODY, LISTEN UP! Georgia was set up as a place for the "worthy poor" to rehabilitate themselves. The unworthy poor were sent to populate Tennessee, specifically in and around the area formerly known as Goat Gigging Holler, now known as Chattanooga.

Awww...yes...the glorious early years of the state of Georgia as a prison colony. Haha! Glad to see thewookiee has surfaced. Actually, the idea about prisoners being sent there is somewhat of a myth. Georgia was set up as a place for the "worthy poor" to rehabilitate themselves. Hard alcohol was forbidden for the first twenty years. Also, lawyers were not allowed to live within the city limits of Savannah. Alcohol and lawyers got these folks into the situation they were in back in the mother country, so they weren't about to let these things be a part of their new life in Georgia. Of course, you would never know now that hard alcohol was at one time banned.

USMS should make this a contest. Whoever comes closest should get a t-shirt or something. I don't know how many were in Austin (as I had to bail at the last minute), but I'll say Atlanta will be a little smaller (I don't think as many are coming from the west coast compared to Austin), so how about 1791. Hmmm, if I'm doing the birth year thing that makes me 219. Yep, that's about how old I feel today. That works. :agree:
