Those are crazy fast swims! I did get to witness these swims at the Auburn Master's meet in February... Event 5 Men 25-29 100 Yard Breaststroke 1 Gangloff, Mark 27 Auburn Masters Swimmers-SE 52.47 24.64 52.47 (27.83) Event 2 Men 25-29 100 Yard IM 1 Gangloff, Mark 27 Auburn Masters Swimmers-SE 48.27 22.11 48.27 (26.16) and also this for good measure: Event 4 Men 25-29 50 Yard Freestyle 1 Bousquet, Fred 28 Auburn Masters Swimmers-SE 18.67

The backstroke duel was a little questionable . . . not sure what part surfaced where are the 15m mark. So many angles were covered and so many were not -- from an officiating standpoint. Just my observation . . . Adam is an amazing swimmer & I wish him all the best. However, not to be outdone were my friends & team mates: Alice Sluss (78), Sally Martin (79), Peg Menges (84). Truly an inspiration. I pray that I might still be able to swim at their age, let alone dive off blocks and set records.

was just talking about that with my coach yesterday. he didn't seem to think he could go a 47, but who knows. There is a video of some of the olympians like piersol, lochte and someone else racing a 100 im and i think they went 47s. the 25-29 record is a 48 high. im sure mania could at least break that

I was watching Adam swim the 100 back at Y nationals-he did the underwater dolphin pretty much to the limit on each lap and was way ahead from the start. The crowd gave him quite an ovation after the swim.

I wish he swam the 100 IM. With a 54 in the 100 *** man would his 100 IM time been smoking. Has anyone ever recorded a 47 in the 100 IM? It is so rare that someone of Mania's calibur swims a 100 yard IM that I doubt anyone has ever been sub 48. Try this link: www.floswimming.org/.../6146 It's from a meet called the Texas Invite and was in Nov 2007. It has guys like Crocker, Hansen, Piersol doing an exhibition 100 IM. In the heat of 7 guys, three went 48s and 4 went 49s. Crocker "won" with 48.13 (his 50 turn was questionable and since the race was Exh anyway there was no DQ). So it looks like Gangloff's 48.27 may be the fastest recorded official time. But note that Neil Walker went 52.79 for 100 SCM IM, which is easily 47+ in my opinion. Jeff

i saw him swim this past december at the Kerr-Mcgee Pro-Am in OK City. he pulled an "austin staab" ala 2009 ncaa's and kicked out a full 15 meters on his last 25 of the 100 fly and did it no-breather to win the event (after being in i think 5th at the turn). he also doesn't seem to have a weak stroke!

I think it is how they kept track of social tickets. If you bought a social ticket (or other merchandise type item) they entered you in a bogus event.

45.95 100 back age-group 25-29- Adam Mania ???? that is smoking!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yea Adam is fast...I think he competed in the olympics back in 2004 for Poland or something. He was a stud at University of Wisconsin.

Well - he is for real. He attributes the great swims to the "relaxed atmosphere at Y Nats" - says he's "just having fun". He says he's gonna try for 2012 -- maybe take some time off from grad school and focus more on his swimming. Currently he coaches age group, HS and a Masters team in addition to his grad degree and working. WHEW! Good Luck Adam!

i saw him swim at short course nats in atlanta. surprised he is swimming masters now. must be the tech suit thing
