I remove the wrist strap and use only the middle finger loop. Initiating recovery with the hand vs. the elbow &/or shortening the stroke's finish causes the heel of the paddle to pull away from the hand. Also, this set-up really helped refine my backstroke catch and finish.

RE: paddle drills

After a heavy kick set, it is a good idea to do a paddle-pull buoy set. I can focus on high elbow pull and stroke finish with this set.

RE: paddle drills

Do you all think that paddle drills really work? yes and no - depends on what drills you are talking about, and even the paddles you are using may be contributing to your confusion. care to provide more background info on where you're coming from and why you think you may be having issues with paddles?

RE: paddle drills

Besides pulling, I do catch up with them.

RE: paddle drills

Do you all think that paddle drills really work? I have only swum or pulled with a paddle- is this what you are referring to as a drill? I like using them about once a week, and I'm curious to see if there is anything else that can be done with paddles since I don't really do anything drill-like while using them. FWIW, I don't think they confuse my stroke, though.
