If I recall correctly, I entered the 100-200 free, 50-100 ***, and 200 IM, so I&#39;m easy pickings for any gridgers out there. Hopefully the meet went well. It&#39;s good to see a lot of meets on the schedule this season.

It wasn&#39;t a big meet but it was reasonably well-attended. The 50 and 100 frees each had 11 heats. The 400 IM and 200 fly each had 1 heat. The 500 free ended up with 4 heats after the checkin deadline.

Swimming so many SCY meets has been odd. I&#39;ve done every event this season at least once except the distance frees. And I&#39;m entering the 500 in the next meet. No checkoff challenge here though; I really have no interest in swimming the 1000 or 1650, having done more than my share back in the day.<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: Groundhog Day Gridge Thread (Groundhog Day Gridge Thread)

Was the Kirkland meet well attended? Hmmm, I don&#39;t know if I can go 4:59? That&#39;ll be tough right now. If I can take my fly out a little faster that would probably help. I go WAY too easy on my first 100. If I go 1:08-1:16-1:28 (&#39;cause my br sucks at the moment)-1:07 that would be 4:59. How come these things always looks do-able written down?! All I can do is try :agree:
I&#39;m pretty sure I can go 1:06 in the back though. I went 30.8 a couple of weeks ago and I was training hard going into that meet :agree:

When I typed last week that I had gone 1:01.64 earlier in the season, well that was a typo or a brain fart... or something. I actually went 1:01.91. But then I did swim 1:01.64 today. Psychic premonition? Alternate timeline? Parallel universe? More importantly, have I outgridged myself? Hoping to improve on those times.

Another fun meet in Kirkland today. Megan was there and swam all the 50&#39;s as well as the 100 free. I was in the same heat in the 50 back and 50 fly; she beat me by 2+ seconds in each. She went 23.1 in the 50 free, 49.7 in the 100, 26-something in the back, 27.1 in the ***, and 24-something in the fly. I don&#39;t know if those are records or not, but that&#39;s pretty fast.

Nathan was there too, or was he? Someone named Xlathan Jendrick was entered in the meet. Is he Nathan&#39;s evil twin, or is Nathan Xlathan&#39;s evil twin? And how does Megan feel about all this??? Or was this just another excellent display of gridgemanship by Nathan, entering the meet under an alias to confuse his foes? Well, consider me confused! I need to sit down. I&#39;m already sitting down!!! :afraid:

Anyway, for Karen&#39;s gridge, I went 4:49.11 in the 400 IM and then strangely enough, I repeated my earlier time of 1:01.64 in the 100 back. I need to train more backstroke since I haven&#39;t been practicing it much and I&#39;m much slower at it than I was last year. In the 400 IM I experimented with a lunging breaststroke hand recovery as suggested in Ande&#39;s thread, after messing around with it in practice for a couple days. I haven&#39;t seen my splits yet, so I don&#39;t know whether my breaststroke leg was faster than usual or not, but the lunging recovery seemed faster so I think I&#39;ll keep at it.<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: Groundhog Day Gridge Thread (Groundhog Day Gridge Thread)

Sounds good on the gridge. OMG, she is absolutely amazing. 100 IM holy cow!!! My best 100 free is 56.
WOW!!!

My meet was fun until my hubby pulled his groin, in his first lap of his first race in five years. :badday:
He&#39;s 6&#39;4&quot; and known for his phenomenal walls. It was during the 200 br. He dove in and went well past 15m (wearing a B70 for the first time). Either on the dive, or on the first kick, his groin &quot;popped&quot; as he described. He did 3 strokes on the first lap with no power in his kick. Lap 2 he went past 15m again and took 4 strokes. Lap 3 he went 15m took one stroke, did free to the other end and got out. His first 50 with little effort and no kick was 32 low (at least that part was good!)

Fortunately for me I entered my first 3 events back to back. So while he was trying to figure out if he could swim, I raced. He waited for me another 45 min so I could swim 200 back. I didn&#39;t want to ask him to wait for the last event, 200IM, so we left.

My 200 back was 2:25. And while I didn&#39;t do 200 IM, I suspect that it would have been 2:25 or faster, as my back and IM are almost always the same.
I&#39;m sorry I didn&#39;t follow through on our bet. I&#39;ll let you know before I swim it next time? (And this time I won&#39;t bring the old man with me!)

The 200 IM was the last individual event of the day. When I saw her 2:05 seed time I thought &quot;maybe I&#39;ll be near her feet after the backstroke before she obliterates me on the breaststroke&quot; but after watching her post that 54 in the 100, I revised my thinking to &quot;I suppose we&#39;ll be relatively even until the dive....&quot; For the 200 IM gridge, I posted a 2:16.26 in my 7th swim of the day. Along with my 5 events, I joined two Unattached relays that were organized on the fly. Upon request, I swam the 50 *** in a medley relay. That has never happened before. I mean, someone actually requesting that I race breaststroke. Nathan swam fast too. I think he went 34 in the 50 ***, 1:10 in the 100 IM, and 27 in the 50 free. On the heat sheet, he was correctly listed as M25 and suddenly had seed times, which he smashed. Nathan- If you swim with Megan you might want to tell her that B70 suits are really cheap right now, $100. And b/c you&#39;re close you could probably get it pretty quick. My guess is she probably has some USS connections. I&#39;m told the Jaked is the best suit out there, if she can get one.

And do tell what suit Megan wears!

Yes, the lesser of my time plus 10 seconds and your time minus 10 seconds will determine the final resting place of a great many smilies.

Even after editing that sentence a couple times, it still sounds really odd...<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: Groundhog Day Gridge Thread (Groundhog Day Gridge Thread)

Mr. Guy-
