It'll give you much better movement and it's much more comfortable.

RE: Why are jammers better than briefs?

Perhaps that comes from not having 2 pieces of elastic wrapped around either side of your perineum?

If you are more comfortable in a brief, then race in it and don't worry about a jammer.

I find jammers to be more comfortable to race in. Yea, I train in a brief with a mesh drag suit but I hate the way the brief feels. I prefer to save the jammers for racing. It's a pysche thing to put on a different feeling, looking suit for me as well.

RE: Why are jammers better than briefs?

Why are jammers better? Possibly all of the above?

I'm not sure how much better (if at all) jammers are than briefs. I would think the improvement would be small, but who knows. I plan to compare the two at my next trials/finals meet in the spring.

I will say this: I could definitely feel a difference after putting on a pair of jammers, just walking around. My step felt "springier" (for lack of a better word) and it wasn't just my imagination. Possibly that results in less fatigue or a faster/snappier dolphin kick? I dunno.
