I just don't understand why I am so freakin sore WHILE swimming..esp BR in meets. It really sucks!
Any thoughts? Sign of being out of shape possibly?:weightlifter:
Any thing I can do to avoid this severe soreness?

Okay. That makes sense. Being that I don't have a FREAKIN coach (can't you just feel the anger shooting through the computer? haha) I'm getting no advice.

Maybe sore isn't the term I'm looking for. More like an all over ache? Is there a difference? haha.
THANKS again!!!:D

Yeah, I swim alone too.

Lactic acid build up (threshold training) hurts like a ***. But its not really what I call "sore" cause with a little easy warmdown it goes away (then the fatigue sets in!). But the more you train in that range the better you will tolerate it in meets.

RE: Why am I always so sore in meets?

I've never really been that "sore" from swimming....physically drained, tired, fatigued, etc. Things like weights, pullups, core, running makes me what I call "sore".

RE: Why am I always so sore in meets?

Thanks fellow swimmers. If you aren't used to it in practice, you won't be used to the feeling in meets. You need to do more all out sprints in practice. See if your coaching team coach can help you with those. And try to get some more protein in your diet at meets.

RE: Why am I always so sore in meets?

Just make sure it's soreness and not pain from trauma (i.e, shoulder joint, muscle tears - bruising).

RE: Why am I always so sore in meets?

Yeah, I agree with Oz. You're probably pushing a lot harder in meets than in workouts.

RE: Why am I always so sore in meets?

I'll bet you do not go 100% race speed in practice !!!
