I'm finally back. The meet went well for me in terms of placement. I was top ten in four of my five events. In terms of times it was so-so. I never really felt good in the water. I'm sure some of it was the new suit rule, but I think I just didn't hit my taper quite right. I guess you can't have a great meet every time. More importantly my wife and I had a great time in Sweden. We pretty much ran ourselves ragged outside the pool. I'm sure that wasn't the preferred method for swimming fast, but oh well, there was lots to see!

FINAL MEDAL COUNT (unofficially including relays and open water): According to my math, here's the final medal count for USMS Swimmers at Worlds: 1st Place: 34 2nd Place: 31 3rd Place: 26 4-10th: 196 Total Medals: 287 Medals! Along the way, American swimmers set 8 World Records and 16 Championship Records. From what I could tell, even those who didn't medal had some great swims and lots of time improvement. For me, it was a great week, and I really enjoyed meeting everyone! :applaud: Congratulations to you and all of the USMS swimmers for their great success! Most importantly, you enjoyed it! I think more people are watching and cheering on M. Storz than any other swimmer here. He uses sort of a modified sidestroke and only recovers one arm over the water.

The USMS swimmers building Team USA is a WHOLE lot larger than anticipated - I think over 225 swimmers if not more by now! They EXTENDED THE DEADLINE also. May 31st! My buddy Cokie Lepinski is one of the USMS coaches and she is totally excited about the team that is building. Our team is sending 2 swimmers and a wife. The wife should be swimming but she loves cheering more - lucky Team USA.

I am 99% sure the timing of the meet is dictated by Georgia Tech and their willingness to accomodate this event, not by the host team. Fine. DAMN the both of them!!!! :)

I should have said Canadian Nats IN MAY are SCM. Actually this year's meet in Nanaimo is long course.

Oooooh, I soooo want to go, but the timing directly overlaps with a big kid's meet for my daughter. The sad part for me is that Puerto Rico timing doesn't look any better. If I'm able to swim a LCM taper meet in 2010 it'll have to be in California or Arizona.

I noticed the same thing, Chris, and to make matters worse it seems like my best events all fall on the days where men will be swimming in the slow pool :badday:. That said, I'm still planning to go. I haven't really looked into the costs and logistics yet, though. I've never been to Europe and this seems like as good an excuse as any!
