We tell our patients to wait 10 days before they bathe (swim). Your Doctor should have a 24hr on call MD. Why don&#39;t you call them to be 100% certain. The last thing you want to do is get an infectiona dn then be out for more than 10 days. For the skin shave, doctor told me to wait a day for a little healing, but it was no big deal. For the ones with stitches, I was told to keep a watertight bandage over the wound for 2 weeks until the stitches came out. For the stitches in the back, the biggest thing they were concerned with was pulling the stitches apart by swimming, not so much the infection. Too much movement would make for a bigger scar. One doctor let me swim in an outdoor pool within a few days of having something removed on my back and I had about 3 stitches. Another doctor said no. I wait until either I&#39;m &quot;water-tight&quot; or it is well scabbed over.
