I give the big finger to FINA and Speedo. but rules are rules, also in spirit. So I am back to textile jammers. Actually I never wore textile jammers, having last really swam in paper banana hammocks, so it's really just "to" textile jammers...

Great responses. Still trying to make sense of the whole Jaked situation. One of the young men who wore a Jaked for finals while wearing a lesser suit for prelims had these results 100 LCM Fly Prelims 56.6 100 LCM Fly Finals with Jaked 53.3 200 LCM Fly Prelims 2:08.7 200 LCM Fly Finals with Jaked 1:57.8 200 LCM IM Prelims 2:11 200 LCM IM Finals with Jaked 2:00.7

Well, that's really not an accurate deduction. We don't know if he was swimming easy in the prelims and then giving it his all in the final. Plus the additional adrenaline during the final heats. Impressive drops however.

I didn't realize that en.wikipedia.org/.../Asterix was such a good swimmer...! :bolt: on a side note, his theme park outside of paris is awesome. Went there once as a kid.

a bunch of asterix times? the suits are legal right now. why would you mark any times set within the bounds of the FINA rules with an asterix? I didn't realize that en.wikipedia.org/.../Asterix was such a good swimmer...! :bolt:

Would you splurge and get one of these suits if you could afford one and they were in stock even with the possibility of a ban approaching in 2010? No "Possibility": as it stands the tech suits are a done deal, a dead horse, soured milk. Unless, with their impending doom all but assured, the Jaked suit becomes gets moved to the "bargain bin" at 50$ a suit, why waste your money and likely post a bunch of useless asterix times? I wonder how the companies that invested untold amounts of money in development of these suits feel right now? They were not even on the market long enough to suck even one swim parent into buying a full rigging for their soon to be Olympian ten year old. All that money and likely not even one red cent back on the investment.

I wouldn't want to buy a Jaked right now. Too fragile and too much money. I have a bunch of swims in a Tracer Light (about 40) and a b70 (15ish plus 3 open water swims) and they are holding up to the abuse fantastically. I'm definitely getting my money's worth out of these things. At $500 a pop and very easily torn, the Jaked doesn't seem like a good deal to me unless you're picking up a free one.

Have one and will wear it. I did get it for the summer already, so I am getting some use out of it. I will also wear the same suit as last year for some races to get "real comparison time". The Blue70s are going for $200 or less - I am guessing the Jaked will follow the same pattern. We should get an idea in September on the deadline for the suits. Me too. However, no time drops for me with the Jaked, at least in the long axis strokes. At Nationals, I swam 2 50 backs (one Jaked, one B70) and 3 50 frees (2 B70 leading off relays and 1 Jaked). I was slower in the Jaked for both events. The only discernible variable between the races was that I felt like I got slightly worse starts in the Jaked. Oddly, I swam the fastest on day 4 in my very old and very stretched out B70. I'll keep using both until they're banned for masters. I certainly don't recommend sizing down in the Jaked.

You will still see these suits in OW events until they rip or wear out after their 15 swims or so.

As it stands now neither FINA nor USMS has outlawed these suits for Masters.I ordered a Jaked for Nats and it tore the second time I tried it on.The replacement arrived the day after nNats and I plan to use it as much as possible.
