Just showing up does seem to count for more in short-course meters. Some of the top swimmers didn't put up SCM times. That said, it also seems that SCM times have been trending downward in recent years. Look at this sample of benchmark 10th place times: Yr - 50 fr ... 1500 fr ... 200 ba ... 100 br 55-59 men: 05 - 27.89 ... 21:17 ... 2:51.9 ... 1:23.0 06 - 28.39 ... 21:50 ... 2:56.5 ... 1:23.6 07 - 28.11 ... 21:05 ... 2:47.1 ... 1:21.36 08 - 27.21 ... 19:51 ... 2:41.5 ... 1:21.08 40-44 men: 05 - 25.58 ... 19:00 ... 2:26.9 ... 1:15.82 06 - 25.74 ... 19:02 ... 2:29.4 ... 1:15.56 07 - 25.98 ... 18:46 ... 2:25.2 ... 1:14.01 08 - 25.19 ... 18:53 ... 2:25.9 ... 1:13.44 The trend is apparent in a lot of age groups ...

On that note, where are SCM NW zones this year? Idaho? Federal Way? Idaho I think.

...2nd to a certain Jim Clemmons in the 100 and 200 BR... Although it seems I'm listed at 11th in the 200 back, I look at it a bit differently: I'm 10th, net of breaststrokers (we're talking Clemmons again).

Butterfrog all the way.(I can swim a pretty good 75M true fly,after that it's butterfrog..)I love racing you,especially head to head.Great 200 BR.That was your fastest time in how many years?Also,how many #1s did you get,and how did a distance swimmer make TT in the 50 free? 7 number 1's, 15 total TT's, I warm up a lot. My renewed attention to kicking is working: it's my first ever TT in a 50! Great job, Jim. Your versatility is showing. And congrats to everyone else who made the TT, as well as to those who didn't make the TT despite strong SCM seasons.

I love to see how my teammates did! I think I enjoy it so much b/c I see them working out (in and out of the pool) and then to see them in the TT is really cool. I wanted to point out 2 things in the W 40-44 1500 free: Congratulations to BJ b/c she's been working out really hard, and Lisa Ward swam half of that 1500 doing BACKSTROKE! WOW. Way to go Creekers! :cheerleader:

go figure, my 200 back was 1/2 sec slower than last year (so much for the shave) but I move up from 8th to 7th from last year. and looks like my gamble to try to squeeze in the 200 fly didn't payoff. looks like its time to knuckle down and do the 400 IM for real next year.

Way to go everyone! I'll have to find a new SCM meet for 2009. The one I usually swim was canceled this year :( Ditto. I had planned to taper and shave for that meet this year! :bitching: We'll probably have the September pentathlon, and then SCM NW zones late in the year. On that note, where are SCM NW zones this year? Idaho? Federal Way?
