I did - 3950 yds. age 47.

RE: How many swam the one hour postal?

I went 4800 yards freestyle at 4000 feet (New Mexico State Natatorium). I&#39;m 54 and have done past one hour swims backstroke (which is OK with me since I like to swim backstroke).

Unfortunately, for this swim, I did not include my split sheet in my entry - only the certification sheet with the final yards and timer signature. I was informed that my swim will not count because of the missing split sheet. I mailed the form, but threw away the split sheet.

The rules are clear - you have to include the split sheet. I made an honest mistake, but the organizers would not take my word. They have to follow the rules. Personally, I don&#39;t know what they do with the split sheet - perhaps to check that the splits track with the results? Only the total distance is reported in the final results.

I suppose that someone could cheat and record more yards or a faster time, but if the sport gets to that extreme, I&#39;m going to find some other sport.

Word to the wise: do the paperwork!<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: How many swam the one hour postal?

I did it last year, 4,930 (age 41 then). I would credit decrepitude generally, but my shorter swims seem to be holding up and possibly even improving slightly with age. I went about 175 yards LESS this year than last year. I&#39;m sure it was due to a combination of factors, but I got off to a slow start from which I didn&#39;t recover and suffered quite a bit of cramping in my legs (to the point I had to stop at the wall a few times to stretch). Plus, I just wasn&#39;t there mentally. Frankly, I&#39;m glad to have it behind me. How did you break it up?
What would you do different?

I swam my straight though, swimming 50 back when I needed a breather
I do wonder if I would have stopped every 500 or so for like 10 -15 secs if
I would have been able to swim faster and do more laps.<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: How many swam the one hour postal?

I did it last week but unfortunately the chlorine level was too high that day. I was trying for 1000 meters per 15 minutes, but could tell after 30 minutes that I wasn&#39;t going to make my goal. The next 15 minutes were tough, as I was bummed I wasn&#39;t swimming better. Not sure about next year yet - I still need to formulate a plan.
