I used to swim in a club between age 8-13, but quitted after that. Now I'm almost 17, and recently I restarted to swim because I'm following a beachrescuer course.
We need to swim a time of 4:30 in 200metres (swimming style is free of choice

RE: Do I suck?

I'm in the 13-14 age group and my time is a 2:24.53. But I swim competitively on an all year round swim team. Your time is really good for someone fully dressed!

Good luck with the training!

RE: Do I suck?

In this morning's lesson I swam a time of 3:20, which means I should pass easily.

suckage is relitive to the situation.
a drowning victim who was 200 meters away and had only three minutes left before going down would conclude that you do suck where as a drowning victim with 3 minutes left who was 150 meters away would not.

i hope this was helpful.

RE: Do I suck?

Comparing a time like that to competition times would give you a pretty wrong picture.

- you were swimming with clothes
- you were not psyched up for competition
- you didnt do turns
- you have not prepared physically and mentally for racing

3.20 for 200 m with clothes is ok. What you could do in competition is hard to say untill you prepare for a real competition.

Have fun

true, but many programs are being cut. my HS required everyone to have a semester of phys ed in the pool..... i'm sure they don't anymore.

RE: Do I suck?

Thanks, thzt was really helpful!

RE: Do I suck?

In this morning's lesson I swam a time of 3:20, which means I should pass easily.
