A dear friend of mine, Norm Allish, passed away on 12 December. In his youth, he was a champion Canadian swimmer (prior to WWII) and was awarded a "Wrigley Cup" (pdf photos attached of Norm and his team). I guess that he was in his teens

RE: Help with a fallen Swimmer

Jordan and Marion Wolle (San Diego Swim Masters and Las Cruces residents) asked about the Wrigley Cup. If someone on this forum knows anything about the cup, could you please write to me.

Just guessing here, but the original Catalina swims (Catalina Island to the mainland) were sponsored by Wrigley (of chewing gum fame), so perhaps it is related to that.

LATER: Google to the rescue:
www.swimalberta.ca/.../swimmer-awards-3.htm

Go a little over 1/2 way down the page and then look under 1937 and 1942.
