It sure sounds like a good idea. I've never tried it but I'm going to when my middle school swimmers start their season in late January. Good luck, Coach T.

It definitely makes sense; that would go hand-in-hand with our T-30's!

RE: Specific stretch-cord exercises for swimmers

I talked to a coach (can't remember his name) who begins the season with an evalutation from an qualified athletic trainer. Absolutely awesome!

I never thought about getting a PT in here to work with our kids, but it's definitely something to think about and pursue! Thanks for the idea, Tom!

RE: Specific stretch-cord exercises for swimmers

I've made some 4 minute videos but it's not as easy as it may seem. You can add more or subtract some and as long as you start out easy and progress the sets to failure, you’ll get a training response. I think the fact that people associate shoulder problems with movement rather than the attack the real problem (lack of muscular balance / symmetry) is a good reason to do the shoulder exercises. A lot of teams are proactive and get a qualified physical therapist that evaluates muscular imbalance of each athlete and prescribes exercises to remedy it. Good luck and Merry Christmas
