What if they go under and can&amp;#39;t get the belt off? Even if they do get the belt off it could damage the bottom of the pool. I think holding a med ball out of the water would be just as effective. Obviously you wouldn&amp;#39;t be able to do the pushoffs from the bottom of the pool, though.

You forgot the single most important point...core strength.
