I just got my long hair cap yesterday and thank goodness! It fits great...even a little roomy in spots. My hair is a medium thickness and goes down to my mid-back. You might not need one for long hair if yours is very thin. I think I could go with a normal cap if my hair was shorter.

RE: Swim Caps, help a new swimmer!

Thanks for the advice, i will get one of those!

Anyone with suggestions for a silicone cap?

RE: Swim Caps, help a new swimmer!

One thing you might want to consider is to get a fabric swim cap to wear under the long hair silicone, because even silicone will do some pulling on the hair.

I definitely agree with trying to get a lycra cap to help out with the non-hair pulling factor.

RE: Swim Caps, help a new swimmer!

One thing you might want to consider is to get a fabric swim cap to wear under the long hair silicone, because even silicone will do some pulling on the hair.

RE: Swim Caps, help a new swimmer!

non-hair pulling factor

Is this why I'm getting thin on top (male thing)?
I thought the cap just yanked at the hair on the sides and back, not the top. I've still got plenty of hair on the sides and back of the head. It's the top that's falling out...

RE: Swim Caps, help a new swimmer!

What are you supposed to powder it with? I tried a tyr once, liked it, but it tore too quickly for my tastes.

Another tip to avoid snags is to powder the inside of the cap every time after you swim. It not only helps to prolong the life of the cap, but snags hair less putting it on (not so much taking it off). Powder the outside very lightly too, to keep it from sticking to itself.
