Come on people, lets be real. Cavic was STUPID, HORRIBLE at the finish. Even 12 year olds are taught to kick into the walls. You just DON"T GLIDE in. Just one dolphin would have given him a Gold, and he could have done several quick dolphins. I blame his coaches. Phelps does all the little things to win. Each phase is just as important as the others in winning. The start, underwaters, first stroke up, the turn, the finish are all equally important. Cavic blew it.

Sullivan is just pissed that Stephanie Rice is in heat over Phelps ... There is God, Jesus, Spirits, Phelps and then Oprah. Phelps is higher than Oprah. People Magazine spilling into another thread ... I think perhaps, hard to tell, that you meant the word "deity."

"Luck favors the prepared." Motivation also play a BIG role. Looks like Eamon Sullivan wants a little more recognition for his own efforts. Didn't he set a new WR in prelims? One that wasn't exceeded in the finals? (I could be wrong.) VB

I'd bet Phelpsy would agree that he got a little help but... There's a lot of hard work that goes into luck. Michael Jordan always seemed to be lucky on a more consistent basis than others.

I am sure that Phelps would agree. Sullivan is just pissed that Stephanie Rice is in heat over Phelps. You have to remember that Phelps is beyond human. Pure humans could win the 100 fly like that. Pure humans couldn't win the 200 fly, Helen Keller style. Pure Humans couldn't win gold medals in their 5th best event, the 200 free. He is like a diatee(don't know the real spelling) or something. There is God, Jesus, Spirits, Phelps and then Oprah. Phelps is higher than Oprah. And you know that Mrs. O isn't happy about that. Now, if Phelps becomes the top sprinter in the world, he might be a god.
