about: This blog will post my workouts, meet results, and anything else about swimming. I will put in some rants as well.

RE: Got a Swimming Blog?

Name: Colin McLain

about: Currently live in Van Buren, AR and work in Fort Smith as a graphic design instructor (gives me time to swim). I'm 40 years old, swam competitively in high school but not college. Took a 20 year layoff and have been back swimming for just over 2 years now.

I swim all 4 strokes but have yet to try an IM. I just recently learned breaststroke and think I'm getting better at it. Currently I'm focusing on 100 and 50 distances but might go longer distances in the near future.

What Else? I think swimming is excellent exercise. I like it when my students are surprised to find out I'm 40! Also, an added benefit is that you can eat lots of food and burn it off the next day!

Teasers: Expect to see a reader contest complete with prize, a recap of this September's convention and details on my quest to meet my all-time favorite Olympic swimmer (it's not who you think!) this fall on my blog. And, to meet reader demand, I am trying to work on getting some images on there as well...

What Else?: I am a full-time freelance writer and masters swimmer who loves distance (LC rules!) and butterfly, and really, really means it when typing "I'm going to work on my breaststroke and sprinting this year."

RE: Got a Swimming Blog?

I forgot one additional teasers -- I hope to have a logo created soon and thus be able to give away promo caps and t-shirts

RE: Got a Swimming Blog?

swam for Paul Bergen in high school

What Else? I'm 56 and started swimming the year I turned 48. I had no prior swimming background, did not do age group or high school swimming. I kind of knew how to swim when I started but have come a long way in the past 8 years to get to where I am now. I now swim primarily the sprints; free, back and fly (learned that stroke at age 52). I hope to one day become proficient in breaststroke also.
