Here are some swim sets that can help you get in the swim again. Note there are many others on the site, including a progression to get up to a mile:

They know I'm harmless so they tolerate me. There are lots of "less young" swimmers here! I'm over 55 and definitely not approaching geezerhood! I swim with two different crowds, both of mixed ages (probably a 40-year range in each), and we enjoy each other terrifically.

Swimming is a great way to keep neuro responses alert, weight down, and general tenor up.

If you feel you have specific age-related issues, perhaps keep in mind that responses in general are fractionally slower, it will take longer to get up to speed, longer to recover from massive effort, etc. Just keep at it with the swimming. It also improves one's mental state!

RE: Old geezers 55 plus years old

Of course I'm a DOM. I feel like decrepitude is gaining on me, and that the boneyard beckons. We need to acknowledge that FINA 56 is what gerontologists consider to be "middle old." Not "young old" nor "old old" but "middle old."

This said, I should acknowledge that decrepitude has been gaining on me for decades now and has not yet finalized its sleeper hold on my carotids. It's a little like Xeno's Paradox, with which the mathematicians out there are surely familiar.

I am babbling.

I think I am getting Xeno's Paradox mixed up with Xena the Warrior Princess. Both of them do seem to recede, however, the closer I get to them.

Nurse! Bring me my shawl!

No, I am not ready for the enema!

You can't make me take those pills!

Well, maybe you can. Where the hell is my shawl?

RE: Old geezers 55 plus years old

Geezer jocks!
