So is Michican, Cal, USC and Stanford.

Didn't Dave Walters also swim in the prelims for the 4 x 200 free relay? If so, it is Dave Walters, Ricky Berens, Weber-Gale, and Piersol. Remember though that Crocker and Hansen were at one time Longhorns as well. And I would go ahead and count Hersey as a Longhorn myself.

All in all, Longhorn Aquatics was well represented as Coventry, Spann, and Shanteau all are members no was well.

RE: Medal Count by college team

I guess if Jensen wins the 1500, I can overlook it, but otherwise keep your fingers to yourself.

RE: Medal Count by college team

I was trying to figure out a way for the college to be able to take actual credit for the medal in terms of a combination of training and attending.

Soni trains and USC and swam NCAAs this year -- Dara Torres has probably not been to the Florida pool in 20 years. Swimmers headed to a given college means very little in those terms.
I think Texas rules this for the Men - but again, much less college medalists than before - the pros are taking over.

RE: Medal Count by college team

Signed the letter of intent, so she's officially a Texas Longhorn unless the school releases her from her schollie. This is just a habit us USC grads have after winning so many races. The horns are ugly and the sign is officially banned outside the state of Texas. The victory sign is just our way of showing you that we are not arrogant we are just better than you ... :notworthy:

RE: Medal Count by college team

Signed the letter of intent, so she's officially a Texas Longhorn unless the school releases her from her schollie. LOI's are binding. The only way she DOESN'T swim at Texas is if she goes pro (not likely) or if Texas decides to release her (really, really, really unlikely).

Trust me, she's a Longhorn!

But whatever you feel better.

It kind of makes sense considering that's where he trains and that's where he's gotten fast. The NCAAs is pretty much the breeding ground for the U.S. Olympic swim team, but USA Swimming tries to take credit for it. They are due to take credit for the club system and introducing young swimmers to the sport, but NCAA competition is what makes the existing high level swimmers become world class.

RE: Medal Count by college team

LOI's are binding. :dedhorse:Dude, the point of the topic was to figure out which swimmers that are doing well are college swimmers. Hersey is not yet a college swimmer, she hasn't trained in a college practice yet, in fact she's yet to even start college.
