Eamon sizzled in the pool, he'll be very hard to beat in the 50m and 100m freestyle events, he was just smoking hot in the pool!

Congrats to the boys for getting a bronze, great swim boys!

Phelps was just .26 behind Sullivan. I'd say that was plenty close for a middle distance freestyler against a pure sprinter!

RE: Awaiting 100m free Men(result from 4x100m)

Phelps was just .26 behind Sullivan. I agree. Phelps was right there and did exactly what he needed to do (as did everyone else) to put them in position for the gold. I am quite sure that Phelps is capable of changing gears and if he decides to train for the 100, you will see some serious speed.

RE: Awaiting 100m free Men(result from 4x100m)

Phelps went 47.51 to lead off, just .01 off the (now it's the old) world record.
GWG went 47.02
jones went 47.65
Lezak went 46.06 to Bernards 47.63

Bernard went 46.73. He tightened up, but not enough to go a mid-47.

I do wonder how much of Lezak's 46.0 was from being ready to swim (we'll find out in the 100), from catching a perfect draft, and from being psyched-out-of-his-gourd relay teammate.

RE: Awaiting 100m free Men(result from 4x100m)

WOW Eamon Sullivan what a swim 100m WR WOW Phelps wasn't even close to him! Nobody can match that.

Little surprised by the South Africans - their "big" horses were the slow ones.

RE: Awaiting 100m free Men(result from 4x100m)

Phelps went 47.51 to lead off, just .01 off the (now it's the old) world record.

I was screaming "F you France!" at the TV. It was awesome. My wife was scared.

GWG- "Michael and Bob came by and told me the Frenchies were talking stuff......."

This might be the bets race in history, 3 or 4 teams could break the world record. How often has a country broken the WR with their #4-7 swimmers? Crazy.

RE: Awaiting 100m free Men(result from 4x100m)

I think it comes down to the roster changes. The US will put Phelps, Lezak, and Weber-Gale in tonight. And keep Jones?

The French will put in Bernard and Gilot. They'll be replacing a 49+ split with a 46+, a low 48 with a sub 48.

Bousquet's split was incredible.

I would guess that Phelps goes mid 47 flat start, Lezak and W-G 47 low or better and Jones mid-47. Maybe one USA guy breaks 47?

RE: Awaiting 100m free Men(result from 4x100m)

I'm pretty sure NBC shows all of the swimming semis/finals live in Eastern and Central time.
