IF I WERE TO TEST + and was innocent I'd be screaming from the tallest buildings on earth begging for three lie detector tests. He was not an achoholic he was a heavy drinker. His consumption of alcohol never interferred with his life. He never missed a day of work, never drank and drove. He was a great parent. He drank booze after being poisoned by Chlorine Gas in a work related accident that burned his lungs so badly that he suffered with pain and emphazima for the next ten years until he died. Thanks for you wonderful kind thoughts. I am so happy you think your two hero's were clean, am I allowed to have my opinion. So, because your brother was an alcoholic we are supposed to think that Carl Lewis and Lance Armstrong weren't clean?

If you got caught would you lie? I would never think of cheating. BUT, if I did and got caught, yea, I would tell the truth because it would time to fess up and take my licks. Would it be a lie if you did not know you were doing wrong? Meaning what? That she did not know she was taking PED? Again, this argument is ridicules to the MAX. Was what she took always illegal? Who cares, it was illegal when she took it and got caught? And, not approved for use in the USA. Would she be liaing if she took this before it was banned? Heck, I think all the questions have been answered. Are you Jessica Hardy? Yes! Ms. hardy, your tests came back + on BOTH the A & B splits. You are out! If their are some mysterious questions that she has not answered or been asked, then the burden of proof is definitely on her at this stage of the game. She had MORE then ample opportunity to raise any questions or provide any answers she could while being interviewed on national TV. I also have not seen her scream loudly that she will take three lie detector tests administered by three very credible test facilities from law enforcement. Carl Lewis and Lance Armstrong innocent as the driven snow. Don't count on them always being clean. I would never place a bet on those two. As far as Johson I gave him the benifit of doubt until he betrayed everyone once more. He was a cheater. I donot defend Johson He destoyed my trust. Most drunks I know read plenty well, it's just a matter of showing up for work when they're supposed to! #3 is just a jilted ex USADA executive looking to ruffle some feathers, like Canseco and Mitchell!;) Carl Lewis would never have cheated. Have you ever heard him speak, he definitely doesn't sound like someone who has used steroids! Plus, if you look at Ben Johnson's pictures from the World Championships the year before and then again at his pictures from the Olympics, you'll notice a faily impressive change in physique! She was incarcerated on March 6 for 6 mos., so should be due for release around September 6. These are not the types of crimes that get ppl out of jail early or their sentence commuted. Following is from one of several similar news reports at the time (my bold): "The former Olympic track gold medalist was sentenced to six months in prison Friday for lying to investigators about using performance-enhancing drugs and her role in a check-fraud scam. ... U.S. District Judge Kenneth Karas, who sentenced her ... said Jones damaged two federal investigations with lies that came years apart, so "I don't think the criminal conduct can be written off as a momentary lapse of judgment or a one-time mistake, but instead a repetition of an attempt to break the law." Mr. Logan should get a medal for standing up and telling it like it is---and should be. Give false information to Federal Agents, cheat, take PED, malign others, call your detractors racists and threaten law suits to ALL who called you out for your cheating---heck, Ms. Jones is a poster girl for the slammer---and needs to serve ALL her well deserved time. It is time for all nations to get tough on PED and STOP turing a blind eye and making excuses for this wretched behavior. I have utter and complete disdain for these cheaters--and--if for no other reason they stole the dreams of years and years of hard work, dedication and efforts for those who chose to do it the right way---CLEAN. Oh, and for those who think their are no clean athletes competing--nonsense. Many, many honest, decent and dedicated athletes have chosen the right way to compete--and that is clean. I'm glad he wrote this letter too... I seriously hope that Bush will not grant Jones ANYTHING. I think she should be embarassed that she wrote that letter to get excused. I can't believe she did that. Keep her butt in jail. Even though she is in jail and had her medals stripped away from her ... she also stole all those moments away from other athletes. She still has the memories of winning, raising her arms in victory, standing on that podium and singing to our anthem... man, does that make me mad.

What is that phrase again? Ah, ignorance of the law is not an excuse. Granted this is not a US Law, per se but it sure as heck is a USADA and WADA rule. I recall (I think) that Bush brought up PEDs during one of his State of the Union speeches. I think it would be a longshot for him to show her any mercy but given his comments on PEDs, probably even moreso. Still dissapointing she is a Tar Heel, bad news.

More positive steps in the US on drug cheaters: Douglas Logan, President of USA Track & Field has written a letter to President Bush asking him NOT to pardon Marion Jones for her recent convictions. See: www.usatf.org/.../view.aspx Note the statement of admission: "Our country has long turned a blind eye to the misdeeds of our heroes." which is what most people in other countries believe has happened in the past. He also says: "A pardon would also send the wrong message to the international community", Good on Mr. Logan; it takes guts to bring this up so strongly. Hope he doesn't get deemed 'unpatriotic' for his efforts.

Ehoch I wouldn't wory too much, every country has a few athlete's that have done this. I don't think anyone's going to call this a fall from the pedestal. Well maybe some jingoistic hacks will but normal folks will realise JH is not representative of all the USA. I say this as a) a Naturalised Citizen and b) one who doesn't believe a mere handful of people ultimately represent anything except themselves.
