www.usms.org/.../toptenind.php Fourth in the 50. A little bit disappointing at first, but then I figured out that the top three were all Division I swimmers.

Yes, the 200 BR is a bear. Trained for it all season, and this is all I got. Death to distance... www.usms.org/.../toptenind.php That's a great time. Congrats on the ranking! For me, it's death to the sprints. I don't think I would have come close to a top 10 time in the 50 breaststroke in SCY. Although I too now die on the 200s, I need more than a 50 to wear down you sprinters!

You know I credit you with planting the seed for my training with the kids. It's been awesome. To the extent that I am physically able, I'm getting to re-do my swimming career.

Congrats on everyone's Top Ten times. It was very cool when I got my first top ten in 2004. Right now, I am in the Top Ten for my 200 yd fly this year but there was an electronic timing error at the meet that I did that 200 fly at. I am pretty sure that will corrected because other people in that event have time of 1:17 which is impossible unless you are Michael Phelps. But, I plan to be back in the Top Ten for LCM this year. I will most likely get in for the 200 fly(I did a 2:51 last weekend, 6:27 made the Top Ten last year in the 30-34 age group) this year. Now, my goal is to get in for a few more events. All I can do is my best. In addition, one year can be really easy to make it while the next year, it will take a miracle to make it. In 2004, I got 6th the SCM 200 fly with a 2:38. The next year, I did a 2:36 and didn't even make the Top Ten.

Thanks very much! I really didn't think I had it in me, to be honest. I think my seed time was like a 2:32 or something! But now that I've done it, I want to do better, of course! I just love this attitude. You go 12 seconds under your seed time and your second thought, after "Wow, where did that swim come from" is "Oooo, I could have gone a 2:19!" Congratulations on an outstanding effort. That'll help you stay motivated. Rich

I don't normally like to brag, but I am very proud of my very first top 10 ranking. www.usms.org/.../toptenind.php That time is essentially what I was doing as a junior in high school. I've got quite a ways to go to get close to my best time of my youth but I'm working on it! (I need to learn not to take it out so fast--I'm dying too much at the end). There are some really amazing swimmers in USMS (including most of you folks who post here). I'm not sure I really belong on the same list, but I'll take it! GREAT JOB Midas! I'm really impressed with that time! I could not go anywhere near it! :cheerleader:
