A lot of elite IMers do NOT do a flip on the back to *** turn. In my own experiments - the flip is too demanding of oxygen. Oh - I am far from being an elite IMer!

In my opinion some of these back-to-*** flips should de DQs. If you cross over the vertical towards your chest before you touch the wall you should be disqualified. Mania's turn looks pretty close to me.

I am not much of an IM'er, so perhaps it is from lack of practice, but I find this flip (back to ***) to be slower than a regular touch and go turn. I noticed durning the trials that not every elite swimmer was using the turn either. I guess it varies from person to person. Thanks for the video link - nice to watch good swimmers do it right either way!
