Radar Love - Golden Earing, I want it all - Queen, Feeling Stronger every day - Chicago and last but not least - Locomotion - Grand Funk Railroad. All are good for distance and I can seguey from one to the next depending on where I am at in my swimm

Playing? I never use a music machine at a meet, but there is always something playing in my brain. Sometimes I hum and disturb some folks! I hear more music in one day than most peole hear in a lifetime.

...And for all the Penn State Football fans, Kernkraft 400- Zombie Nation... :woot: i need music that makes me feel like :mad: right before i swim... so i usually listen to groups like rage against the machine, linkin park, or dope before i swim... (and then switch over to music like jack johnson after races to relax before the next one :) )

I like the energy in "Hell Yeah" it's a good way to approach a 50 reminds me of what I wrote a while back when you swim the 50 you need to be pissed off, tap your rage, rattle your cage, defend your life, make it a life or death situation save the life of someone you love get out of your head and into your gut flawlessly execute perfect technique get off the blocks fast and hard have a great entry and streamline tiny streamline glide SDK blast then break out swimming fast hehe Wow, not the first R.E.M. song that comes to my mind, being a huge R.E.M. fan. Clearly you have never done the Chesapeake Bay swim. It's not as hard as you would think. hehe REM's "Night Swimming" is a very good swimming song also, although it's not one of those "get up and go" numbers. It reminds me kindly of many nights camping on various lakes in Upper Michigan, long moonlight reflections on the water like a softly lapping carpet of cold silver, and floating on my back after midnight while watching the Aurora Borealis. Wow, not the first R.E.M. song that comes to my mind, being a huge R.E.M. fan. I thought about that one. Also, the William Tell Overture. Ah! The Lone Ranger .................:oldman: Maybe not "technically a song" but some of the most stirring music ever written! That and the Overture to The Marriage of Figaro. Both get me going! And don't forget several arias from "Carmen" (We need a bullfighting icon.)

I love the Mortal Kombat theme though I'm pretty sure I'd hate the movies. I once had the entire side of a mix tape with a dj remix of the Mortal Kombat theme. I like to listen to the techno song from the opening scene to Blade. or anything from the Bosstones. but I once made the mistake of making jokes about the movie "Deliverance" at the start of an open water race. talked about being nervous about all the flying hands and elbows. anyways, I got the duelling banjo's tune stuck in my head for the entire 3km swim.

I am totally deaf in my right ear and only a small percentage of hearinginthe left. It doesn't matter what song is playing for me. It does always amaze how single minded th ehearing world is though. So, perhaps I watched Rocky too many times as a kid, but "Eye of the Tiger" can still get me motivated. How about "Lunatic Fringe" by Red Rider from the Vision Quest soundtrack? Pantera still gets it done for me. Soundgarden, "Loud Love" and "Outshined" Filter, "Nice Shot" Pretty much any Metallica before the Reload album Motley Crue's cover of "Helter Skelter"
