Actually Ahmed, I watched the whole thing and it was pretty good, including a few 'focus' features on the designing and making of the new speedo and a camp for national team members. Even Steve Armitage was shouting a lot less than usual, so that was a bonus. They had some decent camera shots esp. for turns and a head-on shot that really showed stroke balance (and imbalance). Just watching swimming for 2 hrs on network tv was a real kick.

Not enough space in the Subject to properly thank Hillary Clinton for directing me to the CBC's airing (two hours) of the SCM World Championships. A show that CBC had kept mum about for the past few weeks. (I don't buy the TV guide......... a waste of money). I guess that such shows are Military or National Security secrets that must be kept well-hidden and unheralded. Anyway.............. I get home at around 3.15pm after my swim and gym and while waiting for the grill to heat (for a nice steak), I turn on CNN and what do I get but Hillary Clinton explaining her magic powers that will turn Big Oil into philanthropic organizations that will, gladly, (while rubbing their hands in glee and anticipation of their windfall profits at the prospects of raising their prices by so much more than the %age that they are supposed to absorb on behalf of the consumers), pay for the gas tax out of their record profits, I quickly click onto the on-air TV guide and see that CBC is airing the Manchester SCM World Championships. They started at 1400 (2pm) and I missed most of it. I rush to get a Video tape and start recording and very quickly come to realize why I don't really "like" SCM (or SCY, for that matter). There's hardly any "swimming" to watch. It's all starts, SD/FKs, turns, more SD/FKs and that's it. 60% of races are underwater. 60% of races have ---really---nothing to do with the style of the race itself.

Nicholas Walkotten 5th with 1:53.05 Men's 1500 free - Yuriy Prilukov 14:22.98, just under his own championship record. Larsen Jensen 4th with 14:44.21, Robert Margalis 7th with 14:56.45. I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume Lochte is rested but not fully tapered. He is swimming a lot of "off" events quite well though - 50 fr/100 ***?!:bow: The 100 *** is where he's gonna battle it out with Mike. He's practicing. The 50 is preparation for the last lap of the 400IM ...when he touches him out.

For what it's worth: A 29.58 50br SCM is 1023 IPS points 1023 IPS points for SCY gives 27.42.

in prelims lochte swam a 4:10 400 IM then went 21.6 in the 50 fr omegatiming.com/.../C74A_ResSummary_14_Heats_Men_50_Free.pdf then swam a solid split on the 4 x 200 fr relay

4 seconds is way too much this is SCM so more like 2.5 - 3 seconds 3 seconds. They don't have a 50 *** listed on the converter though. We always use 4 seconds per 50 and 8 seconds per hundred as a good rule of thumb. As the times drop down really low....the conversion is more like 3.5 and 7 seconds less on a 50 and 100.

That's so fast for a 50 ***. Take off about 4 seconds for a yards conversion and she's in the 25 second range for a 50. MANCHESTER, England, April 10. THE United States' Jessica Hardy claimed the world record in the women's 50 *** at the FINA World Short Course Championships held in Manchester. The American demolished Jade Edmistone's global standard of 29.90 set in 2004 when she clocked an astonishing 29.58 to win gold. It is the first victory in the event for the U.S. Incidentally, Hardy also broke the American record of Tara Kirk, who set the standard with a 30.04 in Austin, Texas last month.
