I stopped bringing my hands out of the water... and have dropped around 1.5 seconds.. but I haven't chagned much other than that.

BTW my split measured to 31.17 in that race. I wasn't happy seeing this video :(

RE: Critique my breaststroke

I havent but I will time my 100 kick and pull as soon as I start swimming again tuesday.

The reason my turn was so crappy because i went in way to deep on the turn, so my one breaststroke kick i had underwater was wasted surfacing. I think we would've beat lane 6 if I didn't do that :(((

RE: Critique my breaststroke

I can't see a lot from that video. It would be nice to see an underwater video at race pace. From what I can see, you don't extend and press your arms apart from one another. Have you timed 100 Pull and kick seprately? If so what are they? It'd be nice to know what kind of DPS you have. A better extension with an immediate press away from the midline is a suggestion. Good luck, Coach T.

RE: Critique my breaststroke

you are in lane 2?

RE: Critique my breaststroke

I realize that, while looking at my video, i clicked my way to the likes of hansen, phelps, and college kids that do 24-ish second 50yd breaststrokes, that:
i bring my shoulders far too much
I'm not concentrating on a strong kick
i'm not shooting my hands out in front of me fast enough

RE: Critique my breaststroke

I also looked about 5 minutes after it was posted, the camera person was not getting much other then your recovery above water. Your shoulders also came out of the water very high.

RE: Critique my breaststroke

yeah I was. or you could call it lane seven.

RE: Critique my breaststroke

I'm glad you aren't lifting your hands up as much anymore.Shoot them forward. You are starting your pull before you finish your kick and are not getting REALLY streamlined at the end of your recovery. This along with having your head up too much means you are swimming up hill. This is really hurting your distance per stroke.I can't see what you are doing underwater on the pullout, but you aren't getting very far off the turn.It is hard to tell, but I think you are starting your kick kicking out a little and finishing your kick without bringing your feet together. If you will finish your kick stronger you will go faster. The kick should practically feel straight back.Since your feet are outside your knees the path will naturally be curved, don't kick out.

RE: Critique my breaststroke

your stroke looks pretty good
but the image is grainy and there's not a lot of detail
so I really can't make out much other than what you're doing above the water

work on getting stronger
