This morning I had my last swim practice of my college career--that's kind of scary--all that time I was counting down days and praying for the end to come and now it's here. Tomorrow we leave for Rutger's University (we have a "warm-up" practice

RE: SwimBeyond Blog

Tonight I also am leading off the 800freestyle relay (let me tell you...3x200freestyles in one day SUCKS)

Let's ask Quemena and Waterman what they think about it! At EISL Championships, in this morning's prelims they tied for 8th in the 200 free: www.swimindex.net/.../080306P011.htm

Then after prelims came the swim-off... they tied again: www.swimindex.net/.../080306F011S.htm

Then swim-off #2 began the evening session. Quemena went faster and made the final: www.swimindex.net/.../080306F011T.htm

So the final of the 200 free was the 4th 200 free for each of them: www.swimindex.net/.../080306F011.htm

But wait there’s more! The 800 free relay! Did these guys race the 200 free for the FIFTH time in the same day?!? Thankfully, no. Cooler heads prevailed there. www.swimindex.net/.../080306F014.htm

Bonus round: In the same evening session, two other guys tied for first in the 1000 free. www.swimindex.net/.../080306F008.htm

RE: SwimBeyond Blog

Are these coached workouts?

I had tons of homework that didn't get done so I stayed up until 3am to get some of it done and now I am up at 7am trying to get some more of it done. Sheesh.

Yesterday, aka last day of the meet, went pretty well. I split a 56.44 off the relay (went 2nd) in the morning. (2nd fastest split on the relay so I stayed haha) We actually all did pretty decent splits so the whole relay stayed in tact, and we ended up breaking the school record in that event as well. They haven't put the results up yet from last night, but I believe I went out a little slower in the 100free but our overall time dropped a hair and so we lowered the record a tad bit more.

I'll take today off from the pool and get back in probably tomorrow morning since I have a meet this weekend (masters). Might go for a run today or if I get a lot of my work done I could head over to speedskating tonight.

RE: SwimBeyond Blog

Morgan -

Congratulations on the great meet! Glad to see you got to set some records for the school. 100fly: stayed 17th (we can't move up--locked heats) dropped a little down to a 1:02.9
200free: moved up to 13th and dropped over a second: 2:03.4? (not a best time or anything near it, but I'm happy enough to end on season best times.

on the 800 free I did a 2:04.1 (dead tired) we did end up breaking our school record though, so that was nice.

Tomorrow just the 400 freestyle relay--hopefully I swim fast enough in prelims to stay on the relay ((Damn freshman))

RE: SwimBeyond Blog

Very nice an eight second faster time in the 500 that you posted with your video.

But I did alright this morning (my pnemonia is really getting to me and the back to back events really killed me, but...)

100fly: 1:03.12 (seated 17th going into tonight (moved up from 19th))
200freestyle: 2:04.84? (added some hundreths which sucked, but I had maybe 10minutes between my 100fly and the 200free so, I guess all thing considered--somehow even with adding time I managed to move up 6 spots (20th-14th) so tonight I am in the conselation B final which is good for our team and hopefully i'll get some more rest in between the two events)

Tonight I also am leading off the 800freestyle relay (let me tell you...3x200freestyles in one day SUCKS)

I tried to nap in between the sessions but couldn't fall asleep again?!?! I think my back is so knotted up and tense that that might be causing the sleeping problems...oh well, tomorrow all I have is the 400 freestyle relay.

I went 2nd on the 200free relay yesterday.

RE: SwimBeyond Blog

Thanks for the update! Best of luck, but more importantly, drink it all in, regardless. College truly is a once in a lifetime event, and as you continue these "last" events up through your graduation, may you enjoy every second of it!

The blog name is just something I came up with last year when I started blogging elsewhere. But yes, next weekend actually I have a masters meet...so I don't intend this to be the end really.

We're at the hotel now, I got lucky and it's just me and one other girl so no sharing of beds or sleeping on cots. We went to the pool earlier and got in:

500swim stretch 300swim
2x200 kick (100fly/100free)
12x25 drill @.40
6x50 pace @.50
8x25 @.30 (4-breakout sprints 4-finish sprints)
4x12.5 starts with a breakout

2150 yards

Now we're waiting on dinner and then I will shave down! woot!

RE: SwimBeyond Blog

That's an awesome pool at Rutgers...you'll rock!

Yeah I really like that pool--the only trouble is is that they break up the girls and boys to make the meet go faster, and we alternate pools by day. Luckily the girls get the real competition pool (the 25yards that make up the first half of the 50m--if that makes any sense) the first and third day of the meet and only get stuck in the diving well pool on Saturday for prelims. Then at night we all swim in the competition pool. I don't really mind the diving well pool (its a fast pool where ever you swim really), it's just darker and the end lands to me are more daunting and I don't like the sloping floor appearance when I am swimming--maybe I should concentrate on swimming more than on where I am swimming haha!

Thanks for all the luck!

I post my blog here today just because my blogsite is down for the next few days and I wanted to still post somewheres.

RE: SwimBeyond Blog

That's an awesome pool at Rutgers...you'll rock!
