1. Diving off the block: This was my goal for the Rutgers meet. Earlier I'd started in the water, or took my dive off the side, but I wanted to get up my courage and take the block

RE: My Colonies Zone meet experience

FMIF-

I think I was a few heats behind you in that 200 free. Saw the false start, but it was the person in lane 3 or 4 that made the splash first. Your start (the first one that I saw) looked good. I never would have guessed you were a starting block novice. Great job!

I came in DFL in a few of my events too, but I swam good times and had a lot of fun. Hopefully, we can bump into each other at a Del Val meet in the near future.

Thanks, that's good to hear! I'm now especially appreciative of my coach who took the time to help me master the block and not get too nervous. Maybe eventually I'll even be able to do flip turns!

I hope I can get to some more meets in the winter, so I can practice what I'm learning!

RE: My Colonies Zone meet experience

my memorable experience was my first ever false start in 30 plus years .. d'oh!

Mine was my first ever false start--but then again, I don't have a whole lot of swim competition experience.

But I discovered something about false starts: getting back up onto the pool deck was a bit of an issue for me, heh! Thankfully an official gave me a hand!

My two last place in age group finishes--7th of seven--were made up for yesterday in a 5k run, where I finished second in my age group out of seven! :wine:

RE: My Colonies Zone meet experience

Congrats on your met. Sound like overall a good experience. The bad... well, you learn from that.
