When anyone first starts breathing on their non-dominant side, it is usually difficult. Keep on working on it; it gets easier over time. The fact that is difficult shows you have room for improvement.

RE: breathing

I do not believe it matters which side you breathe on. I can breathe equally well on either side. I have done bilateral breathing but do not use it when racing.

I breathe very little in a 50 or 100 and breathe only on the left side unless I am watching another swimmer on my right side.

The article is good and yes bilateral breathing helps with balance, but do we need bilateral breathing after we have good balanced strokes?

RE: breathing

An excellent article by Coach Emmett Hines on the subject of breathing and how often to breathe can be found here: http://www.h2oustonswims.org/.
