Slowswim. The weather is cold and snowy here. Much to cold for your delicate body :joker:. Katie I am quite fragile, ya know.:cane: I've decided when I retire to summer in Florida and winter somewhere warmer. Until then, I'll just snivle and shiver.:sad:

So sorry to hear you're having such a run of bad luck. Slipping on ice is infuriating. I got a radial head fracture as a souvenir almost exactly a year ago. Thanks for the links! I just ordered a pair of Microspikes. One year post-fracture, I am THAT paranoid about ice. I'm officially a Texas girl now, lived longer here than my under-age-21 days in Iowa. On the few days each year where we have even a dusting of ice, it's a work-from-home telecommute day. There's not a route to work that doesn't go over an icy freeway overpass with a crazy mix of driving skills and braking ability and all kinds of accidents. My fragile knee -- I am very scared of re-injury. A few minor missteps over the years took 6-8 weeks to heal from and I dread a "big one" blowout. Happily our ice only lasts a day or two. Radial head -- lovely. That sounds like it could have nasty swimming side effects. Good luck!

Thanks everyone. I am slowly getting chunkier but am excited about my trip. I had to laugh that Atlanta is toooo North. WOW It is just an observation from a canuck across the border, but it never fails to amaze me at how Americans seem to move from one state to another. We just don't seem to do that often. I was born and raised in Ontario, went to University in Ontario and will raise my family here. Most of my friends and family are from Ontario to. Weird. I wonder why that is? Slowswim. Thanks everyone. I am healing slowly. Lower back is killing and my arm is still not great. Huge cut with bruise on it and swollen where I whacked the step. I am looking forward to our trip. We are going with 2 other families. It should be fun. I will hopefully be able to ring the New Year in with a healthy happy body LOL LOL Katie

Hang in there! I'm rooting for you. Just swim when you can. Oh, and welcome to Masters! :rofl: For me, I had a neck injury followed by a head cold and a life threatening situation with my dad (he has abdominal aortic aneurysms - note the plural). I'm amazed I ever make it to practice. What's next? Aliens land in Georgia. I hope they don't want to swim in my lane with me! Every practice in the pool counts!

Two people I work with are hobbling around this week because of falls from ice on Saturday. This morning our parking lot is an ice rink so I very gingerly walked into work.

Put an onion in your ear. The native Indians from the tribes around Ontario and Quebec would take the juice from an onion and put it in the outer ear. My daughter had ear problems and that is how we treated it. Worked wonders in a couple of days. I have also heard that garlic juice also works.

eat yogurt, they say it will help w/ the ear infections but I do no think yogurt will help much w/ ice slippage:)

WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLL . Sunday ... I slipped and fell off the front steps. As I lay there in total pain trying to assess my injuries I thought (c**p). I realized I had not broken anything but my left arm , left butt cheek and my back were very sore. My left arm is very swollen and bruised and sore, my back and hip are bruised ( not broken as I can move everything and it is healing) I am limping with my leg and back. SO no swimming AGAIN. I am thankful it was not worse That's the spirit. Look at the positive side. With nothing broken, you can still get in the water and move easily. Yes I am having a bit of a pity party. SIGH. Sorry to hear you slipped on ice but it happens down here too. Slipped on ice last February. For weeks it looked like I had a half of a softball stuffed in my back pocket. My bicep is still sore (Bicep tendon tear). I had to go to a Massage Therapist to get the pains (and softball) worked out.

sounds like you need to leave Canadia behind and come south! way south! these things happen to all of us - I of all people know this. don't let it get you down! sometimes when it rains it pours, but you know what they say about april showers... you'll be back and better than ever in no time!
