I&#39;ve set on Air Seal XR, perfect for me for training, the air cushion gasket is very confortable even for hours, on my face they don&#39;t leak even after a strong pushing off the wall, don&#39;t leave strong marks around my eyes, few minutes after the end they&#39;re vanished, I don&#39;t need to set them very thight. Great pheripherical vision, much wider that with the vanquisher, just a shade less that with the speedsocket.
A little costly but very durable, the current pair is over 7 months old and it&#39;s still going strong.
I wash the inside about every other week with hands&#39; soap and use the anti-fog spray with great result.
The aqua racer are on the same level, just a little less confortable, but the smoke color is too faint for me, much better the mirrored aqua version, very cool in outdoor.<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: Goggles

I have been swimming about 5 years (an ex-long time runner with a bad knee) and have gone through a various types of before settling on the Speedo Vanquishers as my goggle of choice. I had reasonably good luck with Tyr Socket Rockets although had some trouble with leaking if I didn&#39;t seat them carefully. I also had difficulty keeping them on when going off the blocks. I have none of those troubles with the Vanquishers and use them in the pool and for open water swimming.

In general, I had less luck with goggles that were more oriented towards triathletes (Tyr X-sights, Aquasphere Kaimans, Seal Masks). I have been reasonably satisfied with Barracuda Ultimates as well but find they cut my peripheral vision so they are better for open water than the pool.

All of this is a long way of saying that it helps to try on different brands and models until you find something that really works.

In terms of scratching, I don&#39;t use a rough cloth on my goggles and keep them in a case in my swim bag. The Vanquishers come in a hard square plastic case which works well. I use anti-fog drops when the anti-fog coating seems to wear out.<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: Goggles

Thanks for the ideas. I have some smaller goggles for competition, but usually end up swimming without any for the meet. When I go to the pool I take about three goggles with me in case one gets fogged up during practice. I also take my anti fog spray.

Ditto although I have dived using the Aqua Sphere (Seal and XP). They stayed on during the dive but I don&#39;t like that they both have a small ridge on top which creates quite a bit of resistance (drag) when diving or pushing off. (I compensate by inclining my head forward a few degrees more than normal angle for diving and pushing off.)

I usually take six or seven different goggles. Some days, some will fit more hermetically than a Nasa Sealed Chamber, other days it will have to be another one or use a sieve for eye protection.

Instead of anti-fog spray, I find that a quick rinse in Baby Shampoo does the trick. (It&#39;s also helpful when resting at turns and a beautiful lady swimmer says, &quot;I smell Baby Shampoo.&quot; There&#39;s an opener.........)<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: Goggles

I have Barracudas and while they don&#39;t leak at all while swimming, the bands will move around unless I get them juuuust right. They have not scratched a bit, after a month of use. I can recommend them for practices anyway.
As for fogging, I have used the anti-fog drops and don&#39;t see much of a difference from spit.<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: Goggles

the Aquashere are good and so are the Speedo Hydrospex. Then either my eye sockets changed or their molds did, they didn&#39;t fit any more. After trying a few different types I settled on Speedo Hydrospex. They don&#39;t scratch nearly as easily and they pass the dry face test, which is where you press the lenses up against your eye sockets without actually putting on the straps and see if there is any suction when you take them away again. If there is, they&#39;re a good fit and not as likely to leak. Buying from a shop that lets you try them on is a big time and money saver in the long run, if you can find such a place. If you&#39;re in the western provinces of Canada any time in the future, the Swimco chain is good for that. Very good suggestion :D (although they usually identify you by your swim cap or swim suit, so I suggest having different colored caps :D)

To answer the cleaning question: when there is fog, I just use my finger to clean it and that&#39;s fine.<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: Goggles

I use the Vanquishers, not perfect fit but close enough. I believe part of the &quot;fogging&quot; may be offgassing from the plastic lenses when exposed to heat of human body. I dip mine in the water (just tilt slightly away from my face, put head under water so water reaches both sides of the plastic lens).

Winter mountain climbers use a product called Cat Crap, which they rub inside their glacier goggles to prevent fogging. The environment is not the same, as the rule of thumb in this sport is &quot;no exposed flesh,&quot; so they can&#39;t be donning and doffing goggles all day. And it&#39;s generally drier than a pool.:agree:

I have heard a little saliva also works, but don&#39;t remember for which kind of goggles. Or just take an extra pair to practice. About scratches: cheap plastic lenses might allow one to rub out the scratch, if it is not too deep.

Since they don&#39;t have fitting rooms for goggles that simulate actual swimming conditions, you&#39;ll find the near-perfect one by trial and error. You can always donate the ones that are absolutely a sieve.
Once you find the near-perfect one, buy a few because (in my personal experience) every time I found a make/model that didn&#39;t leak, it has been discontinued.
