I started to really love OW swimming down in Florida (especially as my swimming improved). Now that I don't have regular access to the Gulf, I look forward to that black line and smell of chlorine. What really scares me is boaters and jet skiers!

Okay you ocean swimmers WIN:bow:. I am now thinking that the smell of chlorine is really not sooooooooooo bad. Geesh I guess I never really thought about all the dangers in the ocean. Katie

No scars for me yet, I have swam through a school of sting rays, been stung by jellyfish, and chased by a Manta Ray!:bolt:

True, but its the Jellyfish, stingrays, and sharks that really put Saltwater over-the-top IMO.:party2: And I have the scars from jellyfish/sea lice to confirm that saltwater is over-the-top! I wonder what the coroner will think someday as to how I got those scars :rofl::rofl:.

Or for those lake swimmers: Nothing like smelling like trout almadine. And for us saltwater folks: seaweed is in a class of its own. I know. True, but its the Jellyfish, stingrays, and sharks that really put Saltwater over-the-top IMO.:party2:

My favorite moment was when I picked my 7 yr old at school on a rainy drizzly day. I walked into the room and 2 of the kids said: it smells like a pool in here. Glad I can provide some ambiance.

What a good way to put it Allen. That is funny you say that. Yesterday when I was tired and it was 2pm and I so wanted it to be 3:30 so I could go home for the weekend. I all of a sudden could smell the chlorine. I thought wow I have the right to be tired and I am so glad I swam this morning. SO you are right. Katie

Thanks everyone So now I guess this is just going to be the "smell of the new me" I won't mind so much when I am not so sore and I have lost some inches and weight LOL. Once I see some real progress I will probably love the smell. I guess it could be worse. Katie

It could be the pool. The year-round outdoor pool I swim in 3x/week is not overly chlorinated. On the other hand I have swam in the pool at bally's health club which is very heavily chlorinated and like you say, I smell like chlorine even after washing up, and the next time I'm on a treadmill I seem to sweat chlorine.

I have come to love it..picked my daughter up after Water Polo practice yesterday..I said " You smell like Chlorine" she says " is that a bad thing? " I said.." smells like home " she goes happily " yeah "

Learn to love it. It's easier & cheaper than trying to cover it up. If you're really motivated, I've found that hitting the treadmill/bike/eliptical trainer and working up a good sweat after swimming helps.

Ultra Swim is a USMS Official Sponsor Why complain? Chlorine is cheaper than cologne/purfume :)

I love to be sitting in a meeting at work and smelling the hint of chlorine on my arm. Reminds me of what I would rather be doing :notworking: My daughter came home from college last weekend. She came in my room to cuddle after I had woken from a nap and said 'You smell like chlorine'. I asked if she liked it, and she said 'yes'.:fish2:

The pool I used to swim in at work didn't use Chlorine. I think they said they used bromine. No smell but a horrible taste (very metalic) and some people don't tolerate it well. I got several rashes and lost almost all my body hair. I know several people that I work with and they love it and have no issues at all. Go figure. I guy I was talking to about it said they use salt in a pool near here he lives and thnks that is the best.

Yes, you will smell like chlorine. The other day I was working out in the gym after not swimming for two days, and my sweat still smelled a little chloriney. But chances are, no one else will notice, unless you're hugging/kissing/etc. I agree, but I try to not get involved with hugging/kissing/etc while in the gym anyhow...

LOL nothing wrong with greek salad dressing when it is ON a salad. I smell funny and of course I am wearing a white shirt and the oil wont come out GEESH That is okay. I smell like a pool with a hint of greek salad. Very appetizing. Katie

Thanks everyone Unfortunatley no sauna where I swim. The masters practice out of the local university. Guess I am just going to have to get used to. It has got to be better smelling than the greek salad dressing I spilt on my shirt at lunch today:doh:. I guess I will just have to get used to it Katie What's wrong with Greek dressing?

I hardly notice the smell anymore--but try this after you've showered--preferrably before putting on lotion of any sort--lick your arm and smell it...no matter how much scrubbing and hot water i use I still smell like chlorine...I sweat chlorine no matter how long i've been away from the pool. I don't really mind except for occasions like last night when I am in this meeting for a collegiate honor society and all I could smell in this room of like 40ppl is the chlorine vapors coming from my skin and hair...that was fun
