Thanks for writing the article about local Olympic hopefuls.
I&#39;d like to add a few comments to yours

Ande Rasmussen

First shouldn&#39;t Gary Spann be Scott Spann

Also Dave Cromwell wasn&#39;t on your list, this Harvard grad got 2nd at Nationals in the 100 back with a 53.8 and 3rd in the 200 back, in 1:57, definitely has his work cut out for him with Piersol, Lochte and Phelps if Michael swims backstroke at trials. I&#39;m curious to see what his 200 free time is.

Mary Beck
Broke the high school national record in the 200 IM, lost it then got it back, excellent backstroker

Ricky Berens
split 48.0 from a flying start in the 4 x 100 relay at the Pan-Am Games which makes him a contender in the 4 x 100 relay . Also a contender for the 4 x 200 relay

Ian Crocker
Swims an excellent 100 and has a shot at making the 4 x 100 relay

Matthew McGinnis
His best event is the 200 freestyle, he is a contender for U.S. 4 x 200 meter freestyle relay

Dale Rogers
Olympic outlook: has a shot to make the 4 x 100 freestyle relay. Needs to drop another second, he&#39;s been 49.7 in the 100 free and it could take 48.7, .7 or .8 to make the relay

Eric Shanteau
Olympic outlook: Came to UT as an IMer and a decent 200 breastroker, Phelps and Lochte will be tough to beat in the IMs, Eric made drastic improvements in his 200 *** last summer going from 2:17 to 2:11, he dropped further this year to 2:10.6 which makes him a medal contender in the 200 Breastroke

Neil Walker
outlook: Walker has an excellent shot of making the 4 x 100 relay, expect to see him in the top 8 finals at trials, he swam a very respectable 49.10 this year. Has excellent speed and should be top 6 or better at the turn.

David Walters
Swam a great last 50 in his 100 free at Nationals, he was 7/10ths of a second behind the leaders at the turn at Nationals then won, he&#39;s a definite contender in the 4 x 200 relay

Garrett Weber-Gale
went 49.14 this season<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: Beijing bound

I think Ian swims a great SCY 100 because of his underwaters but I don&#39;t think he has the efficiency to pull off a great 100. I know he&#39;s swum a leg of the 4x100 before but especially with all the talent in the 100 I&#39;m not sure he&#39;ll make top 6.<div style="clear:both;"></div>
