Also, the team that I swim with holds time trials once or twice a year at the GA Tech pool in addition to regular meets. I've never heard anyone of the hundreds on the the team (younger kids, older kids, parents, officials) make a comment on poor air quality. Strange.

Same here. No problems at all. Nope. I've swum and competed there @ meets several times - LC and SC.

One of the best swimmers is my age group isn't attending because she has breathing problems in this pool. Has any heard or experienced poor air quality at Georgia Tech? Nope. I've swum and competed there @ meets several times - LC and SC.

photo gallery of 2008 Nats WOW Ande! What a great treasure gallery of photos from Austin Nationals! It wasn't all that long ago, but there sure are a lot of swimmers in the photos that I didn't know then and do know now. Quite a few from this forum. Austin was quite epic. I think Atlanta will be as well :)

Nice story!! I thought this was pretty cool. My alma mater, Michigan State, put a story up on their web site mentioning that me and a former teammate (Ron Orris) won events at Nationals: msuspartans.cstv.com/.../050708aaa.html The story says I only swam two years. I actually swam all four, but only lettered twice.

Floswimming is awesome! But why did they discriminate against backstrokers?! That's funny because I think Garrett McCaffrey--who runs the site and does all the interviews--is a backstroker!

Would it be possible to designate Slower and Faster lanes in the warmup pool? We have a 65 yr and over lane, but the chaos in the regular lanes could probably be improved with some designation. Or Warm Down Lanes and Warm up lanes? I doubt most would pay attention. Floswimming is awesome! But why did they discriminate against backstrokers?!

I had a fabulous time! I love, love, love that pool. My teammates had some spectacular swims, but the highlight for me was watching Josh Davis go 1:36 in the 200 free. :applaud: I loved the even pool's scoreboard and how it computes the splits right there! Unfortunately, I closed out my wonderful Austin experience w/ a run-in on the flight out (Continental 7:20 am to Houston) w/ some steroid-popping but fat a-hole. As I was squeezing in through the packed aisles, my breakfast burrito spilled on his shirt and the guy had a cow! I apologized profusely and offered to get him a napkin, but he kept on whining and going off so I felt it best to just leave him the **** alone. Which threw him further into his hissy fit/roid-rage. :roids: The thing that sucks is that I had just introduced myself the day before to some probable future teammates b/c I'm moving to South Florida in August, and lo and behold... a couple of them walk into the plane at the height of this episode and as the guy threatens me with, "I'll see YOU when we get off the plane". (Seriously... what kind of a moron makes a threat on an airplane post 9-11????) I was mortified and I'm so disappointed that my future teammates will think of me as some hot-head when in fact it was some *** having a temper tantrum b/c he got a little bit of egg on his cheap-ass $10 t-shirt! If anybody here is on FLAQ and knows anybody that was on that 7:20 flight to Houston, please tell them that I am mortified by the whole situation and that that 'roid-monger was just looking for trouble. I can't remember their names, but I remember that one lady is Australian (or at least she sounded like she had an Aussie accent) and is tall, sprinter 30-34 age group if not 25-29. :sad:

Speaking of the diving well, who else crashed into the lane lines in there like nobody's business? The lane lines were setup differently than the black lines on the bottom. You don't realize how much you rely on those lines until they aren't centered. I cut my hand on a lane line during Friday warm-up, and after that I stayed away from those middle lanes with the black lines.

Ande, I saw that during the 7am practice Monday. The poor Lady Longhorns in one lane were getting squeezed. Especially since the men on both sides (they decided to go every other lane) were riding the rope pushing it to about 2 feet in the middle of the pool (set up as LCM). It was too funny to hear the women giving the guys crap for doing that. It lasted for about 30 minutes before the ropes were tightened.

no lines on the bottom is a challenge when we train LCM they put in 8 or 9 lane ropes making 9 or 10 lanes but there's 8 lines on the bottom I've hit the lane line a few times We've had a drop in swimmer, Terry, Mr Total Immersion himself, who crashed into several lane mates because he gauged his place in the lane by the black lines instead of the the lane ropes It takes some adjusting plus sometimes when the lanelines aren't tight they'll move a couple feet each way depending on which line of people just swam close to them.

Thanks, Chris! My triathlon days are WAY behind me, put me on a bike or in running shoes and you'll see. The mile was fun, definitely the first time I didn't take it out way too fast! I learned a lot over the weekend that will just make the next nationals even better. Including how to PARTY after the meet....

I cut my hand on a lane line during Friday warm-up, and after that I stayed away from those middle lanes with the black lines. I slashed my finger and lost a fingernail on a lane line. Great facility and fast pool, but no one will convince me it's good to swim in lane 1. lol Why is the bulkhead chopped off at an angle in lanes 1 and 8?

Well, they set them up that way to maximize the number of lanes. If they placed them on the 'T" then there would have been one less lane. But it would have been nice to know that before diving in. I was all over the lane line on Thursday and didn't know why until about 200 in. Whoops. paul
