There are several Philly teams for practice. Check out http://www.dvmasters.org/ for some suggestions. In addition to the Villanova pool, Colonials 1776 has a group that works out at Germantown Academy (M, T & TH 6:30 - 8:00 pm, $7 drop-in fee, must be USMS registered).

Also, Pennypack (my team) works LCM all year (T & TH 7:00- 8:15 pm, Sat 9:00-10:30 am, must be USMS registered, contact coach Jackson to let him know you're coming members.aol.com/.../Pennypack.html ). It's not San Fran, but it's home!

Thanks Dana,
I'll pass the info along. It's great that you get to swim LCM all year.
Thanks for offering to share your "home" with a travelling Manatee!

RE: Philadelphia Masters Swimming Info needed

I don't live in Philadelphia, but go there for business occasionally. Go to this web site, I've swum with the Villanova group and its pretty good.

The practices were intense for my level, but I liked the two hour workout b/c it gave me a chance to get in more distance, and there was a lot of flexibility: those of us in the slower lanes adapted the workout as we needed to.

If your friend can't fit in a two-hour practice, the Ridley Area Y has one-hour practices M and W during the summer, and M, W, Sa., the rest of the year. If you PM me, I'll give you more contact info. It's a nice group of people--smaller than at 'nova, so not as many available lanes, but you'll get a good workout and I've found the coach's feedback quite helpful.

p.s. I can see why he had problems with the local "places to swim"; I was going to suggest clicking on "area teams" (left side of the screen in the "places to swim" section) but when I did, it said "site not found." That surprised me because it was working fairly recently. You might want to keep trying--probably some temporary glitch.

RE: Philadelphia Masters Swimming Info needed

I don't live in Philadelphia, but go there for business occasionally. Thanks, I'll pass it on. If you ever find yourself in the SF Bay Area, try a practice with us www.manateeswimming.org
