It was supposed to rain all weekend and it was really cold. However, not a drop during the meet, just all night Saturday night and relentless wind (at least at my house!).

There were several amazing swims. SShow- I wasn't trying to sound defensive, and I wasn't upset. I was just thinking about what you said :)

I really like Scott Williams and Laureen Welting (TOC coaches, for those who don't know) and I enjoy talking to and swimming with their swimmers I know. I think a long time ago, both of our teams realized that we just do things differently. Not good or bad, just different.

That being said, WCM is #1!
:p

Karen,

If you have a moment, what are the major differences (in philosophies) between the two teams? I really admire most of the CA teams as they produce top swimmers (USS, Masters). Here in GA (not as a big a powerhouse as CA!), I too see differences between teams. Are you talking philosophies or more tactical things? BTW, Laureen used to swim down here in GA. She's an amazing swimmer herself. I know she's missed!

RE: Pacific Champs

Karen- I was just messing with you about TOC. I know the two teams are pretty competitive with each other. You sound like a real competitor which is great.

RE: Pacific Champs

Really?

I think we can all look at the different teams in Masters and select from them an individual that stands out in an age group, and if we limited the competition to that individual, then that team would dominate, right?
But the fact of the matter is: this is a team competition.

FYI- Over the three day meet the total number of entries was DAM- 146 and TOC- 124. Pretty close.
USF- 587 and WCM- 458. Not so close. I'll say it again, we did all right. :woot:
I edited this after I got to thinking- I think WCM could take them one on one, our best with their best. Not arrogance or bragging or any of that- just a very real possibility. For all of TOC's fast swimmers we've got/had people in those age groups as fast or faster.

RE: Pacific Champs

You messin' with me?!? My husband videotaped some of my races, they were, interesting :(
Just when I thought I bent my elbows more in freestyle... oh well, back to the drawing board! I was surprised to see some muscles, and I still need to get rid of this stomach! Argh. Better go have a lite beer and mull it over :p

RE: Pacific Champs

She did great. So the notion that Breaststrokers are the mischievous children of the swimming family is proving to be a truth...

I can't believe I didn't mention it before. I'm so ashamed :shakeshead:

Kari dropped almost a minute in her mile, dropped at least 30 seconds in the 1000, and did a PB in the 500 (but I don't remember how much she dropped)-She was a very happy camper. And, for the gentlemen, I must say she did look stunning in her parka, boots, and sunglasses ;) It was SOOOO cold!

Thanks for watching my races. You are so sweet. :) But, it's really NOT necessary to post pictures... How much do you want for the pictures?!?

You guys beat TOC? WOW. That's awesome! Congratulations :) And, BTW, we never did finish that conversation... we need to do that. :blah:

Way to go Kari. All of your training is paying (has paid) off :smooch: I'm proud of you!
