I am pretty sure, Kyra, that you are now appointed to organizing everything, especially the great Jumbotron incident... Awesome. I can do that. But be aware, if you put me in charge I'll take charge. I'll make it happen so dont' appoint me if you don't want it. ;) Can I put this on my resume as planning an event? I'll see what I can do about the Jumbotron...time to call my brother.....

So how come you're not swimming? I pulled my hamstrings (both legs). And on the last day to sign up I went to the doctor to be sure. He said that uping my training probaby wasn't the best idea so I didn't sign up. And of course Monday morning they felt fine...I blame Murhpy and his stupid laws.

I'll be there! Flying out late, late, late Tuesday night. Looking forward to touring around Seattle on Wednesday & warming up that night. Entered the 1000 as my 6th event... not sure if I really wanted to start the meet with a long one, so I'm leaving the decision up to fate. Also entered all the 50's and the 100IM.:banana:

If anyone is interested in driving to Mt. Rainier please keep in mind May is very early in the season and many roads won't be open at that time. The road to Paradise is usually open year-round, but was damaged by massive flooding due to a huge rainstorm the Park got last November. They are hoping to get the road open on May 5th: seattletimes.nwsource.com/.../2003664877_rainier13m0.html Even if you can get to Paradise, keep in mind there will still be a lot of snow on the ground there. If you don't have snowshoes you probably won't be able to do much hiking.

A couple of questions... Does anyone know what the side of the pool is like for open turns? Hand holds or flat surface (like at Worlds)? Also, I'm not sure I can make the general meeting. What will I miss? (This is my first Nationals!!:groovy: ) The pool is freaking fantastic! You'll be fine for open turns. The gutter drains directly out from the pool surface, and there's a bulkhead with an opening at about the same level in the middle (making it SCY). So no hand holds, but you can get a good grip.

Any suggestions for parks or sightseeing in the region near Federal Way? There's not much around Federal Way, most of the parks I know of are south around Olympia and Mt. Rainer, or north. But definatley go check out the Puget Sound. You can probably find a sightseeing tour that will take you around to all the good places. Definatley check out Seattle too if you've never been. It's about 30 minutes north but totally worth it. There's lots of public transportation to get around too, if you dont' have a car.

I'll be there. I'll probably be carrying my shoulder in a wheelbarrow and cursing how fast the turns come in a SCY pool,but I'll be there. The pool is great and the people are great(especially you forumites) so I wouldn't miss it.(It's also an easy drive for me and my youngest son is in college near there.) A word of warning,although the Seattle area is great and the Pacific Northwest is gorgeous,Federal Way is basically a combination of strip malls and truckstops.:thhbbb: As far as the meet goes though:banana: :banana: :banana:

I am going, also using the 3 non-NQT rule. I came within 0.3-0.5 seconds each in 50/100 back, but I haven't gotten in a meet in 3 months so I had to use times from earlier in the year. I am bringing along my cheering section (that is, my wife) so I am going to pass on the wildness on Friday night.

Those events have their own place, and for me, nationals is not it. Perhaps at some juncture. I have about 9 events I wanted to do this year, exclusive of the distances, and I'd much rather do them. 1,2,5 free; 50, 100 fly; 100im for me this year's tossouts: 200im, 100 back, 200 fly

All I can say is that I entered. I entered last year too, but my son had a Mother's Day tea at his school (Kindergarten). The whole tea cost me about $400! Lost airfare, etc. The killer was this tea cancelled my 4 day trip and it only took about 45 minutes!!! Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't miss any of my kids important things for a swim meet, it was just a little frustrating that the teachers didn't give more of a heads up! So, nothing on the horizon (that I'm aware of, so far). I'm hoping to go :) Kudos for putting your kids first! That is a decision that you will never regret making. No Nats for me this year. Shooting for Austin though.

Ya know, if you had a full body FSII, all you'd have to do is put on a tie!!!! Won't spend the $$$ on a FSII. I do have FSI that I just got (for Nationals) for $72. I think my ties are in the same place as your makeup. Had to buy the FS. As you can see from the avatar, shaving is going to take a while.:rofl:
