I also used to trust them for directions but obviously they do not know what they're doing. I asked for directions from Montreal, Canada to Paris, France and they also sent me down to: 18.Continue on Central St0.2 km 19.Turn right at Long Wharf What a load of ()*&%(&^%%! Everybody knows that from Canada, you start your swim from Newfoundland, Atlantic Canada, to cross the Atlantic (it's shorter and no drive down to the US is needed).:wave:

Darn, why didn't I think of this when I went to Paris about eight years ago? ;) Only problem: the directions don't say whether this is a USMS sanctioned swim which would rule out using a wetsuit... decisions, decisions! Then, too, there's the small matter of the suit design. One must, mais oui, make a grand entrance wearing something absolutely stunning that could be elegantly accessorized with a chic swim cap and goggles (which naturalement should be color coordinated).

THAT is hysterical! I knew most of the directions because we've spent so much time back there, so reading along and then hitting swim across the Atlantic is hilarious! I did NY to Spain and the same thing happened. However, when I tried LA to Perth it said, "Could not get driving directions." I also tried LA to Honolulu- no driving directions. Thanks for sharing- very funny. I'll share it with my classes at school because we're always talking about Internet safety and legitimate sources. You'd think Google was legit... I think they just had a bored techie :)

:rofl::rofl: Oh sure, Mel, no problem. Now I know I use swimming as transportation here, and I even looked up how far it was from Roatan to Houston to avoid the Continental airfare, but I didn't want to intimidate Martin Strehl......and my flight from here to Houston is on April 28th, maybe I should just start now and be there before the 28th thus saving about $800...

Where is that Slovenian guy when we need him? Or that other guy who went across the English Channel thrice? I ain't getting no directions from google no more. I'll just stick with mapquest. your's truly, from someone who has actually used mapquest to get from JFK to a small street in a small place called Severna Park, near Annapolis, and made it without making any mistakes, including getting on the big bridge in NYC. billy fanstone
