I think you can watch the finals on ESPN360.com for free - tonight and tomorrow night at 7pm, eastern time. Did anyone watch this broadcast? I saw Sat. night's. Not like tv coverage but it was good. Hope I can catch the Men's action this way too. I'll have to drag my recliner to the computer room. :joker:

So Beth, I see the lady Bulldogs came in 5th overall (and only 43 points beind Stanford who made 4th).....Not bad! Newmastersswimmer Yeah! I am pretty darn proud of them. This was a challenging year for them after losing Mary Descenza, Laura Conway, Tricia Harm and Sara Poewe last year. They had some younger swimmers who really stepped up and performed well under pressure. Kara Lynn Joyce was amazing at this meet! They will really miss her next season but supposedly they have a fantastic recruiting class for next year. With the fifth-place finish, Georgia has now been in the top five at the national championships for 11 consecutive years! :applaud:

Kirk, I was at the Michigan HS State Championship meet today and everyone was talking about Ava Ohlgren's great time in the 400 IM at the NCAA's which is now the 3rd fastest time in SCY history. Considering that her best time last year was 4:16.82 that is phenomenal improvement. Last summer at Nationals she went 4:49.04 to Katie Hoff's 4:35.82 and the 4:04.08 compares to Hoff's 4:03.46 in SCY. Now that is quite an improvement. Look for Ava to make a run and be a force in Omaha in the 2008. Julia Smit went 4:04.02 at Pac 10's so Ava would be the 4th fastest performer not the third...

After this mornings prelims and if the places scored out exactly liked the prelims, Arizona would win by 6 points. I think the meet will go down to the last relay, just like last year. Auburn wants to win for Marsh going out and Arizona wants to win for the first time. The most exciting race of the night will be the 100 Free with Kara Lynn Joyce going for history as being the only swimmer (both male & female) to win 4 straight 50 and 100 Free NCAA titles in the 50 and 100 Free. Think of all the great sprint swimmers in NCAA history and no one as ever done that. It will be tough because Lacey Nymeyer has the fastest qualifying time and won the 200 Free. Lacey Nymeyer has never beaten Kara Lynn but was not caught in last years 400 Free Relay when Georgia had to beat Arizona to win the title and came up short. Yes, it'll be nice to watch half of the 400IM and recaps or the relays ... it is better than nothing at least ... I'll certainly be watching ... I hope Auburn gets beat this year ONLY because I'd like to see another school grab the crown, and it's looking good for Arizona, I'd love to see Cal in the top 3, too.

Ava Ohlgren winning the 400 IM was a little bit of a surprise. The top three girls in the IM were all freshman. Maybe one of them can topple Summer Sanders' record that has stood since 1992 (4:02.28). Hopefully Skip Thompson comments since Ava hails from Northville, MI which is very close to where he lives. She's one heck of a swimmer! Julia Smit swam a slightly faster time at Pac 10's. Once again Stanford seems to have peaked at Pac 10's...

I can't get it to work, all I get is track & field ... anyone else having success? I was having some trouble... click on some of the other games... and then swimming and diving should pop up on the choice list (next to the viewer)... they may be having technical difficulties... but the swimming and diving screen is loading up now. A bunch of NCAA commercials are running currently. Hope that helps... Edit: It's now 7:40pm and the swimming and diving icon has come up... still no volume or action.

Watch male runners doing the 100m in under 10sec: some are clearly accelerating through the finish while others are just as clearly slowing with every stride over the last 10m.

The meet starts at 7 pm, but Minnesota is on central time, so I'm guessing that they didn't realize that. It should be starting in 15 minutes or so ... I actually stayed home to finish my portfolio, so ummm ... I guess I'll be staying up late after all .. .

keep in mind when bousquets went 18.74 he split it 9.26 9.48 so his differential was 0.22! ande And he was clearly accelerating at the finish.

there's many factors that come into play in how 25 splits in a 50 compare start, streamline SDKs break out effort during the first 25 turn connection with the wall / push off streamline SDKs effort during the 2nd 25 touch but assuming things went well for each swimmer it looks like a split differential of 0.50 is ideal and if a swimmer has a differential of 0.75 or more she probably worked her first 25 a bit too hard keep in mind when bousquets went 18.74 he split it 9.26 9.48 so his differential was 0.22! ande Interesting...
