As others have said, welcome all lurkers! I lurked for awhile before I began posting. Even after I started posting, it took me awhile to understand all the personalities on the board. Not sure I still do. As Peter notes, there is a bit of "variety" here. So I can understand hesitancy in posting. And, of course, you could get zinged or teased (although teasing that comes with a :thhbbb: is all in good fun). Most people are nice to newbies. Join in whenever you can or want to. This thread of my twin was really successful in getting you all to come out of hiding. As Beth said, we usually don't bite. :D ;) The variety of different folks really makes it great and a reason I got hooked on this site. Also at other forumns people are quick to flame people over what ever. This site is how I remember sawimmers to be very cool and laid back and not ones to quickly jump down peoples throats. I'm a cumpulsive lurker. It just stems from my general personality. I'm very quiet. Sometimes I decide to speak up, but usually I just observe. Thanks for making it entertaining to lurk though.

I do a bit of lurking, but I will not post just to post. If I feel I have something to add that would be interesting, helpful of funny for the situation I will throw in my two cents. Hi Rebecca, I live not too far from you -- not yet ready for a meet!! But I would like to know more about the Whitefish open water swim. Is there a website or other place to get information? Hope to see/meet you sometime at a swimming event.

OK I lurk, I lurk. As a beginner, I just don't have much to contribute as of yet. But have learned a lot (thanks) and also gained a LOT of respect for you swimmers. Y'all are tough.

Thanks Everyone....I am the resident travel nurse who for now is residing in Houston Texas....who knows sooner or later I plan to end up seeing all 50 states before I retire and will b looking for places to swim...I am a breaststroker/distance freestlyer who is trying to become an IM'er this year out of feeling the need to try a few new events...did my 1st LEGAL 200 back today at a meet and was rather proud of the fact that I was under 3:30...other than that there is not much more to say except thanks and I promise to be a little braver from now on!:wave:

I felt that way when I joined. It's a bit intimidating at first but just jump in with both feet and have fun. The people here are a great bunch, even the "Stud":thhbbb: . trying to "get into" the posting thing but always feel a little unwelcome and silly for posting

Well..I just completely stepped out of the darkness like a couple days ago!! Think I had lurked around for more than 4 months before my first post. It took some guts to finally "join" you guys, I was kindda afraid of being laughed at by a bunch of very fast and wise life swimmers. :wave:

Thanks Swim4Life. I lurked for a long and then joined. I don't like bullies either and probably won't post much if there is a lot of bullying. I have always enjoyed reading your comments. You are very informative, very fair and still funny. I wish there were more like you out there that are the total package.
